    Hey Guys,

An update about my first DJ gig experience. I had the gig for a private fashion magazine party. 2 hours between 18.00-20.00

The show was interrupted by different other pre-planned small programs as catwalks etc so i did not play for straight 2 hours from my own playlist. Had to throw in different music as requested by the event planner for the small programs during the evening.

Was massive nervous 1 hour before. But once i showed up at the place everything disappeared. I set up my laptop and controller and started playing my music.

I practiced 2-3 weeks and learned both manual beat matching but still using the phrase meter and bpm calculator in Traktor. I made sure to beat grid all the tracks correctly and set up proper cue points. One function that helped me a lot is Traktors “beat to cue” countdown which you can set up in the preferences.

Once there i decided to manual beatmatch with phrase meter and BPM and also to focus on phrasing the mix ins and mix out points i set with cue points. Nothing went wrong and the small transitions which did not went smoothless was barely hearable for the audience.

It was a party where people socialized and drinking champagne so no dancing. Was playing lounge house music.

Ok guys. i will order the Traktor S2 controller after all this weekend. I dont need more than the basics to start with and not too much buttons. If anyone have any last tips or suggestions bring it on but the S2 is what my budget will allow me now.

I have got a offer to buy a Traktor S4 from a friend who works in a DJ store. Not too much more money. Since the Traktor S2 is discontinued he advices me to get the S4 since it will last longer. Althou its a bit bigger in size and not as portable. What do you advice?

What would you recommend around the same price level as Traktor S2 in that case?

The biggest concern i have is the ability and flexibility to take the Traktor S2 to the clubs and hook it up or reconnect it to the current setup. Even if the Traktor S2 is not really big in size. I heard it easier to buy the modular kit consisting of Traktor X1 and Traktor Z1 mixer and just unplug your Traktor Z1 or Traktor Audio 2 so the next DJ can connect his soundcard fast. Also the benefits of this modular setup is that its easier to plugin to the clubs current setup than the Traktor S2 all in one controller. Im not really sure atm.. advice please:)

So i will buy the Traktor S2 controller. But another alternative would be to buy Traktor X1 Mk2 controller , Traktor Z1 mixer and Traktor Audio 2 soundcard. What is the best option in terms of mobility and compatible with the DJ booth in a club if i want to start playing in the clubs?

If i get the Denon MC 2000 will it be future proof if i want to become more pro and start playing out with this setup? I want something beginner friendly and also that has the essential features to play gigs.

So the Mixtack Pro and Denon MC 2000 i get more bang for the buck with more compact build in features that also works well with traktor mapping? So either one of these and the FOCUSRITE SCARLETT 2I4 Audio Interface is enough? I will need to use the Focusrite also for a music production use with the macbook.
