    Hi TheShard,

    mixcloud is very good for what you are trying to do here as you can see exactly what time a track is coming into the mix (if the uploader has correctly timestamped the mix that is). I can suggest listening to a mix then listening to the individual tracks and see if you can understand what is going on in the actual mix.

    I use effects and like to mash up tracks live when I play and I have also learned a great deal from just listening to different djs and their techniques. I have several live recorded mixes on my soundcloud if you want to have a listen.

    Also as I mentioned earlier mixcloud is a very useful tool. Have a listen to a dubstep mix I recently recorded http://i.mixcloud.com/C8Arf.

    I have tried a number of different software, but now I stick to Traktor Pro 2 due to the seamlessness it has to my controller. Also great effects that suit my style well!
