I think she means line dance songs like Cupid Shuffle, Wobble Cha Cha Slide etc. You can always Google line dance songs and steps.

If you have a full time job you should be able to afford something like BPM Supreme for $20/month, which has current but also 80s, 90s too. It’s a process to develop a library, buy 8-10 songs a month from Amazon etc. A couple gigs could pay for a year of music and then you are on your way!

I have divided many of my songs into categories. Line dances, bangers (dance floor favorites), transitions (songs to change styles or age groups), party tunes (good dance songs, but won’t have them running to the dance floor). I have created many 3-5 songs that go well together (each with a slightly higher BPM), the first song in each group should be a “banger”. There are different characteristics for a club/bar, wedding, party, school, concert, etc. Club/bar, school and concert they came to DANCE, with a wedding and party many may just want to socialize and drink so dancing can be more challenging. With the latter, you need to warm them up to dancing so after a few tunes I will either start with a slow song or a line dance and ask them to dance. The next song a mid-BPM banger which I chose based on the age group that came out to dance. I personally don’t like playing from a playlist because if it isn’t working you start questioning the whole playlist. I do print former playlists from successful events that I have done as a way of helping me decide what might work. When I’m “lost” my motto is pick a slow song, line dance, Michael Jackson or Pitbull. 🙂

I feel you would lose quite a bit of your entertainment value if the MC is looking down at a remote much of the time.

Thanks! Have you used this bag? I currently am using a DJ speaker bag/cover that has wheels and handle. It has lasted about a year, but with going up stairs, concrete parking lots and the weight it has carried, it has fallen apart.

Simply by a small mixer. Mackie 402VLZ4 comes to mind. It is about $100, there are those less expensive around $80. A cord from your speaker jack in the computer to a channel and a cord from your speakers to the mixer output. You will have volume control plus be able to plug in a mic if needed too.

I think that the EV’s don’t have a fan, if you are doing gigs outside than might over heat.

Regarding 2 or 4 decks, yes most use only 2 decks.  I have 4 decks for two main reasons, 1] having a song cued on a third or fourth deck gives me more options if I change my mind at the last seconds of the song playing. 2] you can use the third or fourth deck for beats to mix out of one song and then mix in to song two or to give a song more kick drum in a weak part of the song playing.
