You’ve been a TON of help DJ Vintage. To my friends defense, he is VERY picky about mixing in general. He’s always been pretty tight lipped and selective in what he tells me. He’s just now beginning to open up a lot. I can see how it’s like not wanting to help a noob too much. Let me learn on my own. U know, actually put in the work. I’m a tattoo artist as we’ll and we have the same mentality a lot of time. When people ask for specific advice i tell them the basics. Practice! My buddy lived in London in the mid 80’s and has been mixing since he was twelve. Strictly ragga jungle dnb. So I guess that explains him. Any way I’m going with the Beatmix 4. It has everything I want and as far as XLRs I only have limited chances to mix on his big system and I mix at home every single day. So I’m not going to compromise what I want in a controller just to have balanced outs.
A couple more things: So, are balanced outs basically rca’s with a interference protector sheath going around the wires?
And my buddy has a ddj sx so I assume it’s capable of running my controller through one of his channels.
So there it is. Beatmix 4 is in the mail now. Maybe in few days I’ll get back on here and letcha know whaT I think of it. Thanks again.

I don’t know exactly what I hook up too. I’m a little ignorant on that tip. He has a JBL EON setup and said the RCA would be less quality and he is VERY picky on his set up and what he likes connecting it too/through.
I do like the beatmix 4. I like the pads. I don’t like the click of buttons for loops and cues. Could u answer me one specific question tho? Will the N4 run 4 decks on the full version of Serato? I think the reason I’m confused is because I watched a review of the N4 by Phil Morse and he said it’s not compatible with the intro. The first time he said intro but then he only said Serato so I don’t know if he still meant intro. Does that make sense? And one last question: In your opinion by what I’ve told u, would u recommend the N4 or the beatmix 4? Thanks for all the help, BTW.

I do have the full version of Serato but unfortunately it is a bootlegged version. I know, I know. Don’t judge me. I was a noob. I do, however, want the real full version as the one I have is a little “off”. I guess when it comes to my work flow, I developed my flow kinda around Serato because I am/was new and that was the first and only software I ever used. I was messing around on VDJ last night an think it will do but I really don’t like the file/folder set up. And if I switched it’d be a bitch to sort my music again.
I like that beatmix for the pads but it doesn’t have XLR outs. I don’t need them for home but my buddy has a full set up and he said if I got one with XLR outs we could hook both mine and hi controller up and both mix at the same time/together. Jut for parties and messing around. Is there a controller with pads, XLRs, and 4 decks that work with Serato full version? Does the Numark N4 have 4 deck capability with the full version of Serato? I guess I just want it all in a small cheap package. I have to order this controller today so it’s here by mid week. So, N4 or some other one that has XLRs and 4 deck capable with full Serato. Pads are not a must. I think I’m on the verge of getting the N4 I jut really hope it works with Serato. I feel like I’m over thinking it.

Hey guys. Thanks for the responses. Man, all those suggestions are a little out of my price range. Keep in mind the controller is just for me at home and maybe at small family and close friends parties. I’m actually doing my first “gig”, wedding, this weekend coming up. I use a buddies mobile setup with a ddj sx, so for that kinda thing I’m good. This is for home practice and I’m STRAPPED for cash and I NEED one for home NOW. I’ll go nuts if I can’t mix! So Its $350=400 must be 4 deck, and have XLR outs. Go!
ps I think Ive come to terms with not using Serato. I’m just really used to it and I fear change. Really, besides the way it looks is there a quality difference? like the way it sounds or the way it responds? IDK I figured if I don’t like the way the software that I get looks or is set up I could probably find a skin that would suit my preference a little more?
