Jerry_42 and DJ Vintage are right, if you want to upgrade, you should buy flagship CDJs and mixers, if you don’t, you’ll step backwards in term of equipments.
I’ve given my years to technically examine DJ devices, and I have to say that if you want flagship CDJ & DJM quality for small budget (compared to the real flagship CDJ & DJM prices), you should absolutely buy yourself a DDJ-SZ. It has got all you need from CDJs and mixers, 4 sound color effects, 4 oscilattor effects, professional 4 channel mixer, 2 24bit sound cards, CDJ size conductive technology jogwheels with tension adjust, professional outputs, professional crossfader, colored pads etc. As you’ll understand, it has more than everything a DJ could want from a DJ system. It could be expensive compared to other controllers (got very beautiful 2000$ price tag) but it absolutely worth it (CDJ jogwheels on a controller? You must be kidding! 😀 ). For the downside: it’s very very huge, 10,6kg (appx. weights same with 2 DDJ-SX2s), 1 meter wide. It’s up to you in the end, of course but I definitely recommend you to buy this if you want to upgrade your equipment in style!

I always advice starters to learn DJing first, then start producing, because DJing is a handy tool in the box 😀 . My advice for you, don’t go small (if you have the funds 🙂 ) buy yourself a Pioneer DDJ-SR. It has similar layout to the CDJs -for its price-range of course-. Watch tutorials, I definitely recommend ellaskins channel on YouTube for tutorials. Try not to use Sync, always try to beatmatch manually, count the bars like: 1-2-3-4. Never give up. Use the Cue button effectively, that’ll make your life absolutely easier when you’re DJing. Organize your music well, try not to do live mashups (if you can do it, then do it but if you’re a starter it’ll be a huge and unnecesarry risk).
If you have any more questions, feel free to mail me 😀

If you’re going to play with your DDJ-SX at a big venue, I absolutely agree with Terry_42 but I want to add one vital thing to your to do list: buy yourself a spare USB cable and AUX cable for your controller, you can never know what happens.

    in reply to: SC3900 + DJM 850-K + Tracktor is posible? #2050168

Yes you can connect your SC3900s to Traktor, fortunately with more than one way!
As you know, DJM-850 has Traktor ceritifed sound card (like DJM-900NXS), so you can use it with Traktor by just connecting its USB cable.
Now for the player part: you can connect your SC3900s to Traktor with 2 ways (from what I know):
1-Classic DVS-Timecode connection: You’ll need 2 Traktor timecode CDs (because you have 2 decks) and to connect your SC3900 to DJM-850 with sound cables (RCA, Coaxial) to use that way. Godd thing is, Traktor timecode CDs are cheap so that shouldn’t be a problem for you.
2-Via connecting SC3900’s USB cables: Download the official mapping for your SC3900 here: http://b06ba727c886717f9577-fff53f927840131da4fecbedd819996a.r74.cf2.rackcdn.com//1150/downloads/SC3900_forHybridMode_120405.zip . Install it to Traktor, connect your USB cables (DJM-850 should be connected at all times) and start using it. Of course, you should set your SC3900s for MIDI use and set Traktor to use with it but these things must be easy to do. If you have USB cables for your SC3900s, you don’t have to pay for anything to use it with Traktor this way.
I specialize on Pioneer products, sorry I can’t help you with more detail.
    Hope I could help.
    Cheers 😀
