Could you post an example of what you are trying to reproduce (youtube link or something like that)? I’m not exactly sure what you mean.. Ellie Goulding – Lights (bassnectar remix)? What I hear in that track is a sidechained and modulated bass pad. Also, maybe it’s best to try programming some timbres in a bit less sophisticated synth like the Sylenth1 first if you’re new to producing. If you really want to use the Massive though, take a look on this page: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheBreakitdown?feature=watch

I used to play on PS3 but got a bit obsessed with the trophies and stuff.. So I decided to sell the majority of my games to invest in a new set of monitors. 😉 Now it’s collecting dust, waiting for the next generation (my son) to get picked up again (if he ever starts to get a interested in gaming). Nowadays I’m (compulsively) sniffing around the internet every day looking for cheap pc game deals hehehe.. 🙂

Well, in my humble opinion I think it’s best to start thinking about what you want to achieve with promoting and how to promote after that. I’m no promotion specialist, but if you want to go on stage with your band, the first thing that comes to my mind is to start advertising in the neighborhood. Other things that come to my mind are trying to get some attention in the local newspaper, use social media and post your tracks online on all the sites you can find. If you aim to get signed, I guess if you’re good enough you will get noticed eventually. 🙂

Hi Jonathan, welcome from a newcomer! Cool that you are a producer too! Is there a place I can hear your work?

in reply to: How would you describe each sub-genre of dance music? #39735

Why would you want to explain the difference in dance music to friends? I would just let them hear the differences instead of explaining them with descriptions. 😉 I guess in every genre the music evolves by time creating different styles or subgenres. But to give a solid clear description of all those styles, genres or subgenres would be a hard task I believe haha. 🙂

Hi Don Anderson, thanks for the welcome! If producing is what you really want to do besides DJing, and have the time for it, I would say go for it!
