To add, it was the browse view I think that was making it worse. See the video when I change from 2 channel to browse..

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I did DJ years ago with vinyl, its just been soooo long that I’ve got used to bad habits. Thats why I thought to myself today I would get rid of the waveform and beatmatch the old way again. Even ignoring the BPM counter on this deck it would be very hard I think to beat match as its not fine enough and even the slightest of movement knocks it up a quarter of a bpm. I can’t see a setting in Rekordbox that lets me narrow the pitch range?

Try and factor in if you want to collaborate with anybody in the future. There is no point learning something and its PC only for instance and then if you want to work with somebody who uses a Mac daw and its then an issue from the off.

I know this is going off topic a bit but do you think its best to use MP3/AAC and play them in clubs and just use WAV for remixes?

I hate iTunes tbh but they do have some songs I struggle to find elsewhere , but they are then AAC which are still compressed. I am thinking to go lossless so as and when I want to try and do a remix , I am dealing with the maximimum quality. Another idea could be to deal solely with AAC/MP3 and then buy the lossless versions of songs that I want to remix? Do most DJ’s in clubs use MP3 anyway?

    Hi,

Thanks for your replies. I may buy music in AIFF and keep them backed up on a separate hard drive and then make mp3’s for dj use then.

I am starting to get pretty fed up of Apple tbh and their ways and don’t like iTunes much anyway. You say you are a big fan of iTunes for collection management, what alternatives would their be? I plan on using Rekordbox and sticking with Pioneer for good anyway so could I not just download WAV and then let Rekordbox use them? I know WAV can’t do tagging etc but it will show the saved loops/cue points etc in Rekordbox won’t it? It just won’t if I moved them files to say Traktor for instance?

I actually changed my mind last minute and went for the DDJ-RB but wish I hadn’t in a way. The controller isn’t bad but there is no way to permanently turn the crossfader off. When you close Rekordbox it resets to on. You have to manually deselect the crossfader every time with the mouse. I can see that being a total pain in the @£$%.

I like Rekordbox DJ but this is a daft omission from pioneer imo

It looks like on the middle part of the mixer , it has Master and Cue 1/Cue 2 and also has cue volume and master volume. I wonder if you can press master AND cue at the same time and get the right balance in the headphones? I don’t like the split ear way of beat matching , I prefer to have the master a little lower than the cue volume
