im going to add 2 things just because I can ;)…. kensington locks for my controller and laptop (new addition since the horror of someone robbing my stuff whilst I mingle is pretty scary and dont wanna have to watch my shit the whole time) and a clip on led that i usually clip onto my usb cable, showing my keyboard, and two controllers in dark situations
mr stifffyMemberI use an old Dell laptop bag that was for like one of the huge dells, in the main laptop part it holds my omni control with padding on all sides, in front of this it holds my hercules mp3 e2 with dust cover on it for protection then ontop of this is my laptop with a foamish case but the whole compartment has padding, in the front pocket there is room for headphones, power cables, usb leads, rca leads, hard drives, korg nanopad (not used in setup anymore but theres room) and a couple backup cd’s. I usually drive to gigs so just bring this and my pine stand that doesnt fold since I made it myself :), but its a nice bag for carrying, if I had to use public transport id just use my hercules dust case to raise my laptop up since it makes it sit just above my knobs level on the controllers and also has space for cables to run beneath 🙂
mr stifffyMemberI get a lot of stuff sent to me which is quite nice, other then this I use a lot of blog sites that suit my style and only really purchase cd’s when I can be botherd too :P, for chart stuff the girlfriend likes buying me random cd’s which is also a nice addition as much as i dont like playing it 😛
mr stifffyMemberErm im running a samsung netbook, optimised for traktor pro, its got 2 gb of ram and the standard intel atom processor…
I have to have it plugged in to be able to run properly as when plugged into mains it gets overclocked to make the most out of it.Everyone says its stupid djing with a “netbook” but Its light… cheap…. if it got robbed it wouldnt be as bad as a 2500 euro macbook getting stollen, and I can fit it (in its case) in my bag with my 2 main controllers

I do this and tend to drop cue points where I think is ideal, like if the song starts a few seconds before an actual beat then I put a “load” marker on it, this way if its last min i can flick sync on and press play and its at the first beat… usually handy to have since it means i dont have to physically press anything bar play, no cue 1 button then play or no jog wheel seach then play, im ready to go from the start, and as knowing my tunes, I load them onto an sd card and have them in the car, my girlfriend lives 25 miles away so get good use of this technique on trips back and forth :), I know all my main collection off by heart 😉
mr stifffyMemberGlad to help, Have a gig on wednesday that I might try encorperate samples into 😛
mr stifffyMembermixtrack pro contains a sound card but with only OUTPUTS, if you want to run a ipod through this setup you need an external mixing device with INPUTS, you dont need a mixer to use the mixtrack pro you can just use an RCA type plug to plug into whatever speakers/soundsystem/amp/mixer/stereo you have and play that way…
mr stifffyMemberjezalenko, post: 3356 wrote: And the mic inputs wont work if his laptop has crashed, which is what I’ve been trying to say all along…..
It depends I have a numark omni control so same manufacture…. If I have a source running through my mic input and turn off my laptop by the button so theoretically a “crash” I still get sound running through it once the power cable is plugged into my laptop which in a clubbing situation is pretty likely :), but wouldnt recommend it at all since mic pre amps + music = terrible quality
mr stifffyMembertheres only 4 per deck emma 😛 but all are configable to each deck meaning you can in fact have 16, 12, 8 or 4 sample decks at once, most people ive seen use A and B as normal decks then c and d as samples 🙂
mr stifffyMemberTony i know you ordered the cable but the only way this can ever work is through a house mixer, or external mixer basically the mixtrack pro only has outputs so you cant plug stuff into it and the only input is the mic but mic has a pre amp that will massivly ruin the tone if not distort it on your ipod
mr stifffyMemberIf you want to watch a video of it check out ean golden ozzy routine on youtube, or dj shiftee traktor s4 routine, should show some ways to use it
mr stifffyMemberYou welcome always glad to help or try help people with similar interests 🙂

Heres a link that might help and yeah i cold never get my head around ableton.. Not for me :(, but playing samples can be a fun change like i have bout 20gb of them :p, one day they might compliment my style but for now there just toys 🙂
mr stifffyMemberOoo got it its http://www.radiodaddy.com but read the rules since you can get banned for loads… They seem strict but appart from that really really good!
mr stifffyMemberThe way i use it, is i have a samples folder i can add amd play with… They automatically sync up but it depends what your style is i play electro so i dont really have a use its just fun to play with spesh to freestyle…but yeah what emma said… You can hit a loop upto 32 beats and just click where the song names are and drag that onto a sample deck.. It wont produce sound on the sample because it creates phasing but you can unmute the sample deck and drop the volume on the original or find your next sample to start a juggle routine 🙂
