September 16, 2014 at 2:17 pm in reply to: Shopping For DJ Headphones (All recommendations welcome) #2058321AnnakynParticipantAre the HDJ 2000’s now a thing of the past?
AnnakynParticipanthe’s not not long 18 I think, but I believe he started at a very very! young age, he is my outside bet to top the DJ 100 this year. Wait n see
AnnakynParticipantReally gets to me this no controller! But you can run a laptop with CDJ’S. If you are using a laptop for media storage why can’t you use a controller. The controller is designed for the software CDJ’S are not!
Just a rant to all blindsided club owners.
AnnakynParticipantIMO comes down to what software you want to use! Traktor or Serato the big 2! Personally if I would only use NI devices with Traktor but there are loads of controllers mapped for Serato, there is other software out there of course. Try reading the controller guide.
AnnakynParticipantTwo words come to mind… Martin Garrix! At 15 the world is your oyster, keep practising making mixes, learning new skills, grasp new technology, look into production when your ready by the time your 20, well won’t be many 20 years olds with your skills.
Try doing parties with your friends or under age events.
AnnakynParticipantFiver
AnnakynParticipantI use an S4 and Traktor, I have all MIK products bought Mashup to experiment, and Audacity for mastering mixes/effecting and basic remixing.
Anyone use Maschine/NI products?
AnnakynParticipantMy tip is don’t do it! I tried this when I first started just ended up being a nightmare.
AnnakynParticipantAs I thought Terry, not looking to make a fortune just beer money but I get what you are saying will be hard to pick up work if not pre arranged , esp just for a short time.
AnnakynParticipantSave up and invest in a Mac IMO this is the most valuable and most important bit of kit you will purchase, you can get a MAC on finance!
AnnakynParticipantPpl really struggle to put 2 and 2 together on here, anyway…….I want to go travelling (backpacking)! I would like to DJ whilst I am travelling for income, has anyone done this? Things i have concerns about is… licences, security of equipment, wifi access, how easy it is to pick up short term work, other countries musical tastes, working abroad?
Any answer is a good answer, i have never traveled before or played outside the UK. Just looking for some advice from anyone who has done this or played in various countries.
AnnakynParticipantwe’ve had this many a time 1 word mac!
AnnakynParticipantYou run your laptop solely for dj software? How do you get the music into the software? Itunes via net? or is your library on an external drive?
Only benefit I can see from running a windows laptop is having music collection on an external drive and running solely software on it, which does have its risks. MAC!!
AnnakynParticipantI used to get stressed out looking for a windows laptop to buy. Came to a conclusion MAC! and haven’t looked back since IMO if you are using software buying a MAC is essential. And 100% worth the price
