Dizzle the Dj, post: 42891, member: 1780 wrote: You definitely get asked back more often if you try to make your transition smooth with the next dj. The average punter might not notice a poor handover, but promoters will. They’ll want to book a dj who plays well with others as opposed to one who tries to make the other booked djs sound bad.

well actually here in greece there are very few helpful dj groups in booths, there is always a little war going on about who will make the best mix. of course i don’t think that’s the right thing to do. and if i get along with the other djs we will try to make the whole night a blast helping each other.djs here are just not friendly,if someone comes to me kindly and ask for help during his mix cause he has a bad headache or some other problem i will help with no second taught.
however when an arrogant idiot comes saying you have no skill(only because “you are too young”) and tries to break your reputation by saying sh$t to the manager,at least for me, means that you have to defend yourself.and the best way to defend yourself as a dj is to do your job 100% right and get noticed and appreciated by the crowd.
I use something that i call “restauraunt trick” after i have finished my set i will go to the guys or some girls that are tired and not on the dancefloor and ask them if they liked my set(just like chefs do about their food) I pick however very wisely and always i try not to interrupt the flow of the club.all these things add to my reputation i seem friendlier and a better person than all the other djs sitting in their booth chilling out and not caring about the crowd.
    Sry for the huge reply

PS.Promoters in greece care about how much people you will bring in the club they don’t even care if you can beatmatch.PR managers in most clubs are shit.

huge sets are ideal for journey sets(thats how i call them)
as djrizki mention pick some genres and try to make your set more of an experience than just another set
make a climactic set. start with deep house see people groove, slowly bring faster stuff(top 40 house), depending on your country, area, gig you must choose whether to go faster or slower(trance or hip hop rnb dubstep etc) since you go up to 2am rave music is a no go. however make your last a statement,a way to make people notice you,use an anthem, personally i use mainstream hardstyle which is loud and different from the regular edm,i get noticed and the next dj that doesn’t know how to mix house with hardstyle seems a bad dj 🙂

But another alternative would be to buy Traktor X1 Mk2 controller , Traktor Z1 mixer and Traktor Audio 2 soundcard. What is the best option in terms of mobility and compatible with the DJ booth in a club if i want to start playing in the clubs?

the s2 is the wiser choice .don’t rush though, for some extra cash you can get a tm4 which is miles better and for less you can get the tm2.playing at clubs also means that in some point you will ask yourself whther you would want to use the club equipment.so a controller with the same workflow would be ideal for a beginner with club inspiration ergo v(or limited version for traktor)

i recomend waiting since we all expecting the successor of the s4/s2 for the same money you can get the terminal mix 2

i will tell you what i did
it worked for me but i can’t assure you that it will work for you as well
first have a weekly visit at the venue you want to play (don’t go immediately for the big ones)
you will see you will get contacted by PR managers in order to book from them as a costumer. after a month ask to see the main manager and talk to him
    you should look confident
try not look that you need the job.just try to make him think that he needs you. for example i pointed out that there was no trance music during there parties and it is a huge genre with a lot of fans and djs(i gave also the example of many top djs, avb, svd,bt etc) thus he saw he a had at least 50-100 people every night not satisfied.thus the need for at least 30 min of mainstream trance.then i said i am a dj.i told him that i was comfortable with the equipment and showed him some of my mixes.the following week i was asked to play some tech house in the beggining in order the main djs to get some rest and at 2:30 i had my hour of trance. one gig leads to an another. try to be a serious dj that is a teenager.not a teenager dj that tries to be serious.charge less and be better than your older colleagues.

get some cheap lighting equipment, meant for bars.however have a really low budget. having better equipment is more important

match bpm as long as the song quality is ok. find a beat after a break or see that every 8,16 or 32 something changes. then you could find the one.start counting to 4 and then start cueing the other track. this is however beat matching.after you have master that try to bar match or phrase match, the last one is the true holy grail of mixing

different party+different people=90% different reaction. even if it is the same style of a party at a simmilar venue interacting with the crowd will tell you where to go with your mix.the requests from the newbies(top 40 requests) the requests from the more serious clubbers and the way people are dressed and react to your music selection will guide you how to continue with your mix. create multiple playlists, blend them if you need.many times i have started with tech house and finished with trance or started the same way and finished with trap and hip hop.
playing the same set is not always effective and narrows your djing skills

I would not want my iPhone/iPad to hang off the back of my controller like it does on the XDJ R1. Way to fragile. I’d get knocked off or worse broken off in no time.

    Greetinx,

he wants a the cdj experience as i want too.he wants built quality and to make sure he spends his money on a good investment.the only other option as he said is the gemini cdmp7000(the build quality is not its biggest selling point) the iphone thing completely optional.

    mashups
    edits
    accapellas
    good use of effects
    scratching
    samples and loops
these things are encorporated by the big djs and seperates them from the average djs

true i want to buy this and i am not going to use it with the ipad. if it had waveforms or the social wifi feature of the aero( a gimmick for me) it could be more appealing. they want to make the ipad the new laptop and also to make the dj go out of the dj and interact with the crowd.the unit it shelf has everything someone would want.only the effects combinations are cool and the 4beat sampler however the first can be done in the unit itself(with a bit of more skill) and the second one is just an extra(at least for me). we must see this as a better version of the 350 pack.

Not judging, just wondering about the creative process that led to this decision.

Hence the mixup. All solved now though :).

ok sorry for being offensive.HDR is a feature for capturing images and video in low light condition. i was talking to my friend about a new phone while writing my post so this is why i mixed mdr with hdr. also check your post you mixed them as well 🙂
