found something that really helped on djtt something called a script. I run it everytime i start my laptop before i go on traktor n it stops windows doin all those prosessor consuming things leaving as much cpu as possible for traktor. Down to 3ms. Nice one guys.

Cool, that was helpful. Iv found a dubspot video on optimising windows for djing.

    http://blog.dubspot.com/optimize-your-windows-7-pc-for-djing-music-production/

So hopefully this wil get my latancy down to a minimum for some reason its gone up to 6 recently :s. Still low enough i suppose.

Wishing i had a mac to save me all this effort. How low would you say you need your latency for controllerist routines?

Was quite excited when i saw it was an Electro mix but quickly realized it is not my type of Electro. Never the less as a mix I thought the song choice was Amazing all the songs fitted like a jigsaw and the mixing was very neat. My only gripe was the fading out of the last track sounded a little odd. My only advice would be if your using Traktor try using the delay freeze set to a quater of a beat and use that to fade out the end of your mixes. I tend to find this useful. I think I would also give the mixing 8/10. Hope this was useful.

I will be uploading mixes as soon as I find a way of getting a decent quality recording out of Traktor in external mode so feedback will be useful then.

Keep up the awsome mixing, do you do any really dirty electro mixes?

Ideally I would like to have a laptop specifically for DJing. Meanwhile back in the real world…. im a 21 year old who is currently having to get by on the dole and has debt problems. Id say its better to have some decent anti virus and continue DJing on my laptop than browsing unprotected and catching a virus leaving my laptop completely useless.

Lol i guess im just a perfectionist, is the latancy not down to the sound card more than the laptop anyway? I just think the cleaner my computer the less chance of audio drop outs and crashes when playing live. Also. Does anyone know if having anti virus software on your DJ laptop is a bad idea?

Any advice on getting into the clubs here? Where are you based now? I love the site btw.

Living in Manchester and being 21 there is a hell of a lot of competition breaking through as a DJ. I find that nearly everyone I know who is DJing in clubs is either, a really good producer, very good at marketing and DJing very comercial nights or DJing very small clubs and making little to no money out of it.

I love DJing so much and I practice so much. I really want to get into playing clubs and I do think I am up to it. I have tried producing and have made a few alright tracks but I just cant get into spending so long at a computer making a track, I just dont find it practical enough.

What im trying to say here is im sure there are many extremely talented DJs who arnt getting to play out purely due to the fact they are not into producing. And there places are more than likely being taken by people who may produce fantastic tracks but there DJ technique is below par.

Im sure this doesnt apply to all scenes but it certainly seems to be the way as far as DnB, Garage and Dubstep go. Just to add to the problem digital DJing is pretty taboo amongst these genres making it even harder to get noticed.

If DJing is really what I want to do should I just try to put my impatience aside and improve my producing skills or should I find another way into the clubs?

Im thinking of doing this course so but I am already quite advanced with Traktor. I want to do it as I want to see the bit about aranging your music in software. Would this course be useful to someone who is already familiar with DJing with software? I personally belive you can never know to much.

The only reason I would buy the Pios over the Denons is because there the industry standard and I would want to practice on the same equipment in the clubs, I think this is the same for a lot of people. But if your taking your own equipment about id find it hard to resist the SC3900’s. Anyone know if the build is as reliable as Pioneer?

I mapped my Otus Raw to mimic a CDJ 1000 but I also have a seperate mapping which I use for controllerism routines. I have also mapped my midi keyboard as a third deck and I am now mapping it for effects as I sold my x1.

Iv noticed this also. Always seeing DJs using Pio 1000s with Serato but I barely ever see them using controllers. Iv not used Serato but I have been using Traktor 2 years now and my interpretation of it is Traktor is very deep software, you can use it on its own, with controllers and with timecode. Everything in Traktor is customisable and it is the perfect software for modern controllerism routines. Serato Scratch live on the other hand seems a lot more traditional, i dont think it offers you as much help with mixing and im not sure if you can sync or not but theese functions make no difference to me either way as I like to beatmatch manually anyway. I think Djs just like using the Pios and Serato because it looks more professional and at the end of the day if there is a full size setup in a club which still lets you use your software of choice why bother using a scaled down controller which a lot of the time theres no space in the booth for anyway. I wouldnt use timecode unless I was djing the entire night though because its to much hassle to setup between DJs. Ideally im sure wed all love Pio 2000s with DJM900 runin Serato in HID mode but why £5k when you can get a quality setup for £500+

Yeah its really hard to get your name about here but I think I am just going to have to find my own niche in the market and see what happens. Lots of DJs means lots of people into music so im sure il be able to find a way in somehow.
