Deeeyyymm! You are a producer??? That’s the bomb man! I do remixes and mashups but I dunno how to pull off producing. What Software are you using for production purposes?
Uh well ay’t is short for “alright”
PaulMember@Jona,
Right, and post it on “Your Mixes and Music” for reviews and feedbacks ayt?!
PaulMemberHehe, what we have currently is a home setup. What I’d like to know of is something sort of a semi-pro sound system. Or something close to it just for small events. Definitely a 2.1 or a 5.1 surround speaker setup is not really intended for parties and events, right 😛
PaulMemberYes I think there is, but that’s what they have behind the booth. How about beyond the booth? Like I was kind of asking where should I connect my controller. Something that maybe goes like this.
Laptop->Controller->Speaker in my home setup.
But it’s a totally different setup in mobile. It’s kind of more like this (not so sure about this though)
Laptop->Controller->Mixer(?)->Amps(?)->Speakers(?)
And I don’t even know if that’s correct. :p
PaulMemberAh well for me, I was in a band as a rhythm guitar and lead vocals sometime back. Of course, when you’re in a band you don’t feel alone as you have bandmates to chat with and to share your craft, your passion, your art. But in DJing, I figure that this is more like a solo act.
I have just been introduced to EDM like what, two years ago? I am not sure when but it kind of kicked off when I attended a big dance party with trance producer Ronski speed as a DJ. I got inspired, then I found myself looking for DJ gear and ways how to learn this craft. I was just toying around with my then cracked version of VDJ(5.0 I think) years ago. And since I knew how VDJ kind of works, I actually started getting serious about this just this May after I got my first real controller, a Numark Mixtrack Pro which I am lovin’, and a VDJ Pro Full 7.0 which is officially purchased.
But wow, we are in the same situation. It’d be great if we could have a mentor or someone, a person that we can speak with, who knows about DJing, give us some feedbacks on how we can improve, teach us some techniques. But we don’t have mentors, so we would just rely on ourselves, youtube, research, and people on these kinds of forums to help us. They may not be our mentors directly, but at least they could give us inspiration and maybe even some tips and tricks to improve on our mixes. Here at the forums, some people do actually share their DJ mixsets and ask for feedback from other members.
The difference is that people, meaning the general crowd does appreciate if we could beatmatch properly, but may not be too critical. Whereas in this community, will give you constructive criticism because we as DJs and aspiring DJs, share the same passion.
PaulMemberHey I feel you brotha! I don’t have any real DJ friends, nor does my friends are interested in DJing. They do listen when I play, but none of them shows interest in our art. What I did is research, read, research, experiment.
I don’t have formal music training, but I do know how to play the guitar by the chords, but not by notes. You see, EDM is not really a big hit in our country as we are a predominantly rock and pop music country. Thanks to D. Guetta and company, EDM is now slowly growing by the bit.
I must admit, it really gets quite lonely at times. But DDJT and the forums is keeping me company quite well 😀
PaulMemberWow, If I’d most likely fly there to get my gears. HK is nearest where I can get em but I dunno exactly where. Thanks mate! Will contact you if I’d fly to KL.
PaulMemberHi there adam! Do you have equipment readily available there? Do you have a local store where you can purchase your stuff?
PaulMemberI’m a:
Network and Systems Engineer
Certified Culinary Arts Practitioner (I don’t really like addressing myself as “Chef”)
Events HostPaulMemberHaha, well that totally makes sense! We are always “In the mix” Hey, that’d be a great tagline for a Chef as well as a DJ. :p
PaulMemberhey @mindfloat. Thanks for the tip. Might get this book in the coming weeks. Shipping costs will definitely kill my budget as it costs more than the actual item itself. Hahah!
PaulMemberPersonally, I think that TP2 has quite a steep learning curve. Currently, I use VDJ Pro 7 and I’m pretty happy with it, though I would want to explore other options for the software. ITCH 2.0 isn’t out yet is it? Pardon me, but I definitely have no idea how serato software works as they are in all proprietary hardware(is that even the right way to describe it?). I’ve only seen it on videos, but nothing of the real thing, so yeah, I’m pretty much left with NS6 and S4.
But then, I’m considering of this purchase this coming holidays. Long way to go, maybe something really really awesome will come along, who knows, but for now, I’ll bet my moolah on S4 and NS6

PaulMemberI play Basketball, Flag football, and do some marathons on the side. Also, if you’d count airsoft guns and friendly match as a sport, then I’ll add it on my list as well.
PaulMemberHey that’s my reason as well! I love the main site, that’s why I couldn’t pass the chance to sign up for the forums.
