Haha, really? wow! Here in the Philippines, I am a Network Engineer by day, a certified culinary arts practitioner as a part time, events host for corporate occasions, and of course a house party DJ by weekends. :p
Whew, us Djs are really into cooking eehh?
PaulMemberWow, so he really is one of the pioneers of DDJT 😀 Nice yo have you here mate!
PaulMemberI’m quite a bit confused here. What are we guys pertaining to here? Let’s get this straight. if we say:
DJ Mix(set): It is much like a Megamix of sort with songs transitioning one after the other just like how we transition our mixes.
DJ Remixes: A song or a tune, modified to sound a bit different from the original
Mashup: A combination of two songs made to sound like one.
So what are we trying to point at here? I personally play DJ remixes and mashups, but not an entire DJ Mix(set) or a mixset in my own words. It’s much like I play remixes and mashups during my mixsets, but not other DJ’s entire mixsets. Does that even make sense?
PaulMemberRight, back in my first months of diving into digital DJing, it seems to me that the sync button is pretty much a practical choice. But now, after a few months, I try to at least beatmatch by ear AND by sight using the Software’s interface and adjusting the tempo controls on the side of my controller, and giving the side of the platters a bit of a nudge when I notice that they are slowly gettin out of sync.
The process seems to be a much more fulfilling one that just hitting on the sync button alone. Besides, you don’t look idle behind the decks.
And oh i forgot to mention that I’ve only been givin this hobby a shot for just about three months, tons of things to learn BTW, but I am definitely loving it for the music.
PaulMemberIt actually depends, for me, going above the U$500 mark means you’re getting it at the mid-high end controllerism.
But at the U$250 pricepoint, the Mixtrack PRO is an almost an unbeatable choice. The only thing is that it doesn’t have a dedicated channel gain control knob, so you can’t adjust the gain on the fly.
PaulMemberHey guys, wow thanks for the input. Most of us are really interested in these three top guns of the four channel controller race. What Imma try to do this weekend is to try and study even just the basics of TP2(I only have the demo version) via my mixtrack pro. Really now, my choices are narrowed down with just the NS6 and the S4.
Yeah, the cool thing about S4 is it comes with the full TP2 so I don’t really have to purchase another DJ Software pack or upgrade to a Full version. I dunno about the ITCH as I haven’t really seen it yet, but I’ve really seen majority of the mixing DJs just use ITCH.
I dunno if I’ll get bashed for saying this, but the parallel waveforms akin to ITCH and VDJ is just lovely…
PaulMemberOh wow! Glad to see some “kabayans” in here. And thanks for welcoming me here. Hope to learn from you guys 😀

PaulMemberHi Phil, could you post your thoughts please. 🙂 I never really had the chance to test and feel all those gears here in our country as Digital DJing is not really a big of a hobby here in the Philippines. I’ve tried to look everywhere but the closest I could get all those stuff is if I’d fly to HongKong or Singapore, which would be such a burden that’s why I’d most likely base my final thoughts depending on what I see and hear through other people
PaulMemberI am not yet that very much accustomed to TP2 just yet, tried the demo once, but I am having a hard time learning it, having started out using VDJ Pro 7 via Numark Mixtrack Pro. And I don’t have any idea about Serato stuff either.
I actually don’t have DJ friends so it’s much more like I’m learning by myself here.
PaulMemberI started with VDJ that came with the Mixtrack pro, I’m plannin to upgrade to VDJ 7 Pro within the upcoming weeks. Then this holidays, I might get a Numark NS6 and prolly try to mess around with ITCH.
I’ve also tried the demo version of Traktor Pro 2, and I guess it’s got quite a high learning curve for a complete newbie that started out feelin DJ’n a few months back. But I really wanted to use TP2’s capabilities as it seems quite awesome. My only gripe with TP2 is that I wanted to see parallel waveforms. I’m not basing it on the visual side but I’d love to see when I would execute the breaks and all that stuff.
