February 16, 2016 at 5:45 pm in reply to: How many Traktor DJ's forced to downgrade to 2.6.8? #2356591Ronnie EmJayParticipant
I couldn’t upgrade my Traktor as I’m still using Snow Leopard which I find stable. I have to use stems etc on my Windows partition but have never used it yet.
Why are people being advised to downgrade? What problems have there been?
February 16, 2016 at 5:08 pm in reply to: What's the best ID3 tag editor to use for a large collection? #2356521Ronnie EmJayParticipantMP3Tag is free and you can use it on both Windows and Mac through Wine or virtualsed Windows OS.
I’m also not a fan of iTunes and just use that for songs I don’t DJ with (eg. early Megadeth and other metal and so on).Ronnie EmJayParticipantThanks, in many situations the guy before me has maxed out everything at the top of the red… maybe that’s why I couldn’t hear between my incoming song to their outgoing one, or it was just broken.. I need to find somewhere outside of a live environment I can test this on without having to find the money to buy a unit.
Ronnie EmJayParticipantFair enough, guess I missed out.
Ronnie EmJayParticipantCongrats on your first gig! It feels great doesn’t it 🙂
First gig was at university (which has it’s own club, DJ equipment, sound system etc), people had asked me to throw a party cos I was always that guy buying the latest music & promos before anybody else had it, just to listen to for myself. I’m sure the mixing was bad (I had no equipment and no practice) and was mixing vinyl and CDs but everyone loved the track selection and was going wild. The energy was amazing! I felt bad for the DJ after me who cleared the floor after my last song though… but for me, personally, it was a big buzz, and I fell into DJing accidentally… which just took over after some injuries ended my sporting aspirations.
Ronnie EmJayParticipantI’ve had both…
I agree with Vintage and Todd at observing the lighting systems and so on.. noticing when the DJs invariably go into the red but nobody else seems to care etc.
And the high from DJing is normal.. you get used to it when you play what you love and everybody else is loving it too, but I guess it depends on what you like to play, what gets you going. I’ve met DJs who only DJ to get girls, or the adulation, etc etc.Ronnie EmJayParticipantDon’t forget that EDM is usually compressed to hell which won’t be kind to your ears.
Ronnie EmJayParticipantcan’t see any link to the story.
Ronnie EmJayParticipantTodd is correct.. just listen to a snippet of the meat of the song, it should be obvious.
Ronnie EmJayParticipantI favour the water/energy drinks route but I remember a few times… One time starting at a new venue, the regular resident kept getting us shots of Jager every 20 minutes.. and they were giving me lots Jacks&Coke… afterwards the manager gave me 7 drinks tickets and said to ask for more later… Didn’t help I’d had food poisoning from dodgy pizza only a few hours before beginning. Anyway my set was fine .. my stomach was not when I got home!
Another time, I Was playing on a big boat in Ibiza, it for 6 hours… it was fine when I was playing deep & tech house, but once the organiser asked me to play commercial/EDM I decided I’d take the offer from the bar of unlimited drinks and started to knock back whiskey & red bulls… The only bad effect was when someone would come to talk and I’d forget the next song I’d wanted to play, but in the end it all went well.. and I got a free ticket to Amnesia afterwards and went with the people from the boat, so it was a fun night!
I’ve seen the other side when another DJ has screwed up his set while drunk or even collapsed wasted… so I’d recommend sticking to soft drinks and water, something I try to stick to unless offered rinks by others…
BUT … I’m different.. if someone told me I could not drink a drop of alcohol again for the rest of my life I wouldn’t miss it.. I put that down to my sporting past when I was serious about basketball and didn’t even taste a beer until the age of 19, and thought it was disgusting (still do!). I can take it or leave it.Ronnie EmJayParticipantIt was using the same mains supply I usually use… the mac was rebooted and every time the same problems, switching to CDJs to reboot each time…. strange.
Ronnie EmJayParticipantBuying them to practise for one gig is crazy 😛 Hire them or go around a friend’s place.. or ask if you can go early. If you’re worried, run your music through RekordBoxand you can sync if you get lost and there are seconds left to transition.
Ronnie EmJayParticipantI had it plugged into mains electricity.. no settings have changed from before. I’ll try to test it again tonight.
October 4, 2015 at 1:06 am in reply to: How to convert music to video with adding waveform for YouTube #2265681Ronnie EmJayParticipantPerhaps buy an older version of After Effects (if it has this capability).. older versions didn’t have a subscription model, as far as I know.
Ronnie EmJayParticipantIf it gets annoying you can just unfollow and unlike after you’ve downloaded the track… with email make one such as dj.ampero.spam@whatever.com maybe they’ll even figure out you don’t check the email 😛
