    DJ 2-Easy –
Yes, but the question is do people really care about that silence? I know the general partier won’t really notice the difference between an ok transition and a great transition, but literally going from track to track with silence in between like an mp3 player? No one seemed to care, and they had a great time. I’m just starting to question whether or not the average crowd really cares if a DJ just plugs in an iPod and makes lots of hype announcements vs someone who really makes an effort to mix well.

Yeah, I understand… I meant more to say that I still like, and did not completely stop listening to it. Now that I think about I am almost certain that some of those first tunes were by Bassnectar, and I talked to her recently about this and she said that she first began to like EDM after she went to see Bassnectar live, reluctantly, with some friends. Also you could try playing an electronic remix of one of their fav tracks… P.S. unless your buddies are into heavy metal do not play them any crazy wub wub dubstep stuff, because most people who don’t like those types of intense beats as well as EDM will leave the room.

Djrizki, I owe my love EDM to my older sister who had been into it much longer than I have. Before I used to share the common trait of classic rock guys, an all encompassing dislike of all things EDM, but one time I was with my sister and she said, “just have a listen, and open yourself up to another world.” Reluctantly, I went with it and she some EDM tune, honestly I can’t remember the name of it, but I decided to give EDM a try and I listened to a lot more of it and after a while it became such that I just fell in love with EDM. I do not however have a hate towards classic rock, I still enjoy it the same way I did all along.

Hey there Nighthawk, I’m glad that I could help you out! Just give it your best, and I have no doubt that you could get booked. If you are considering playing at your school’s events just send an email/talk with your athletic director. That’s what I did, and even though he barely knew what I was going to do(I did send a demo mix, but not sure he listened to it lol) he just gave me the 1.5mm stereo jack to the huge PA and I started playing. Have fun with whatever sort of gigs you try to pursue, but I really believe that events where the music isn’t one of the key factors are the best places to start out. Once you get comfortable with a crowd, and your skills improve, people will notice and start to ask you to play for their xxx event. Good luck mate!

DJ vintage what great story too! I agree these moments keep interesting! Gotta love the attention of being “da djay”, even when it involves some screwups hahaha
