I havent really used it enough to say im profficient at it honestly. i started out on serato, and i tried traktor for awhile to see how the program compares. It is increadibly powerful and i like the remix decks and everything but like you said, i started out on serato so it was sort of hard to switch over. anyways i dont really do techno. I mix hip hop and many other things and i feel that serato is the easiest for doing that. as for controllers for traktor, all ive really used is the s4 and s2. both are AMAZING! for it. They control the software like its nothing. But honestly. there isnt anything that the s4 can do that the ddj sx cant do. thats why i went with the sx. Its $1000 but it is worth allllll the money.

Ive had many buddies here who have started out solo and have yet to get a gig. While i answered a add on okinawa yardsales (craigslist of japan ) asking for someone to help them haul gear to places the dj at and help with setup. i did that for awhile and then he started letting me try mixing a few. i learned the basics and got a controller. As i kept on getting better he would let me do solos for 4 hours on end while he went away and drank a bit with his buddies. It gave me a huge advantage to get experienced at my mixing but also taught me how to play different genres. I had to play hip hop, R&B, old rock, disco, edm, reggae and everything else under the sun. It was irritating as hell cause im a edm guy to heart but there was a huge benefit out of it…..i can play anything now…and my boss noticed that so he hooked me up with some of the bar owners he knows and i have saturday and friday night slots open for me now cause of it making $120 each one. So not only do i have a steady gig set up with my boss im also getting introduced to other bars and clubs cause of him.

So basically my point from all that is find someone who has been doing this for 20+ plus years like i did. tag along with him and i can almost guarentee that like me he will start letting you do solo shows in his place and get a bigger cut of what he’s getting cause of it and he’ll start showing to bar and club owners and get you set in that. Hope this helps!!

ebay. amazon has a freaking 2-3 week wait on one. ebay you’ll pay a bit more but i had to order mine off of there and pay to ship it to japan cause im doing a base wide party in march for 800+ people and my mixtrack pro aint gonna cut it. So if you can wait do amazon. if you cant like me do ebay. and plus all the ones have free shipping for the U.S that i saw on there. So actually you may luck it out and break even with what it costs on amazon.

yes and no, i use my buddies if we are djing together (which is basically every weekend we are together so i get plenty of practice time on it) But ive played with basically all the other big name controllers like the ns6, ns7, s4, denon mc 6000 and others, testing them all out to see which one i want to settle on and the sx out showed them all. And im ordering mine this weekend after pay day lol. can not wait to get it.

ok, well Im getting a ddj-sx and im gonna have it plugged into the setup, but what if i just want to sit and listen to my music through them so i can hear clearly whats put into the song so i can dissect different parts i wanna use for mixing. would those NI sound cards still work with just my laptop? Or would something from M-Audio do better or another brand?

my guru that teaches me swears by turntables and has me haul around his two 60 pound turntables and a 30 pound mixer to all his events that i help him at…so cause of that i have grown distasteful of scratching on turns. if the only true difference is the motorized platters im just gonna go with the sx

hahahaha i wish i could do the same but being military i have very little time for a 2nd one. i wish i could just get a second one to get my new one. either the sx or this. depends on the price of the ns7 II. All my extra money comes from djing and im the assistant so the main slice of profit doesnt always come my way so i dont make much 🙁 at least im getting expierience.

get the ddj sx. i was gonna go the s4 route but many people pointed out to me here that the ddj can do the same things and much more then the s4. A buddy of mine has a sx and uses a f1 with it and it just sounds plain amazing. Im gonna get a sx too since it looks like the ns7 II is gonna be to complicated to map to traktor due to lack of being able to have tight control of the motorized turntables. I use both serato and traktor and the sx is the best of both worlds.

Have u seen the teaser photo on numarks Facebook? I’m telling u it’s either a competitor for the sx or it’s something like the f1
