Since my post has been published on the main page, i feel like a complete idiot and very embarrassed for what i have said and truly regret posting that. Now that i have realized what i have done wrong. let me explain the full situation.

I have been djing for a couple years like i said. came from overseas djing every weekend and having a blast doing it. I dj’d to fund that habit and my drift car i had. So when i came back here and it became very hard to find gigs i started losing faith. I would talk to the managers, become friends. become a very frequent customer at the clubs and just make myself look as best as possible with being polite to the bouncers, tipping waitresses, and getting to know the dj’s as best as possible. Ive been doing this for 5 months now with no luck. I have a steady set of followers here on this base already that know me as a dj and like my mixing. Heck, i even had the Chief master sergeant of the base ask me to dj for a base wide dorm party. I have connections here and they work pretty well. But I’m finding getting connections in a bigger city very hard.

So i have come to a dilemma of do i continue to try and get gigs and social market the heck out of myself, or do i put my main focus on trying to begin producing. Yes i could do both, but when i work 12hr shifts, school, and random bull#hit that comes up with the military. I only truly have time for one hobby at a time. Now i love dj’ing. It helped me get through some hard times and it helps me relax and relieve stress. I truly do love doing it. But I’m also finding myself wanting to get into producing more and more. My dream since i was a teenager years ago was to become a touring edm superstar. Now, that is very unrealistic but i have to try. So if that means i have to give up one love to begin another. I will do it.

So from reading that. What do you guys think i should do. Temporally put my love of djing to the side to produce. Or keep working my ass off to get the djing jobs i desperately crave?

Again. I’m sorry for coming off as an asshole in my post and seeming to dish on anyone who uses a laptop or sync or anything like that. I truly did not mean to offend you. So please forgive me for that one moment of assholeness.

I will take that advice and use it this weekend. I feel a ballsy move like that will get his attention. I basically said the same thing to him once asking for an hour and he said ‘my dj’s are under contract to play every weekend’. But I’m gonna keep trying and do what u did terry. And I know I could kill it too because we all have those dance floor fillers that we go to every 30mins or so in the night. I’ll just combine them all into a 15min mix and have the manager begging me to play for them. Thankyou terry for the idea.

djcity.com and mp3poolonline.com. both offer intros to songs which makes it super easy for mixing. i use djcity for all my hip hop music downloading and mp3pool for all my edm and top 40 downloads. amazing websites and well worth the money.

new update: Im banking on what nick greek said and waiting till august. if not…ill just have to wait till NI comes out with a new controller, which!! i hope/predict will be soon with price cuts across the board on traktor controllers. call me hopeful, but im thinking that is the long awaited final sign that a new NI controller is coming out. but there have been price cuts like this many times in the past so im probably wrong. but hey, you cant hate a guy for hoping.

I thought about switching to/or adding Serato DJ and the Pioneer DDJ SX, but I put off the purchase since I haven’t had my Denon MC6000 controller too long.

Nevertheless, I tried Serato Intro and Traktor, but I enjoyed Traktor’s workflow better at the time.

I started out using serato dj cause thats all that came with the box. i love serato and the parrell waves it has which makes mixing so much easier. but i like how much more effects and remixing abilities traktor has. And im switching to Dj’ing with EDM here soon cause the people here are starting to open up to it so i want traktor to help me make the most of that scene.

i would go with a bag. i have that exact case with my ddj-sx now and its heavy as can be. its not really long but its super thick. it’ll protect your pioneer with no problem. but its way to heavy to be traveling with. i would go with a bag.

i dont want a debate. just a simple question answered. Cause i am seriously debating getting a mac. I only use my laptop for djing and watching movies. thats it so i want a laptop best for that. and the mac seems to always be the first choice for djing.

no i meant i dont have enough hook ups for all the speakers. and my adapters wont work on my mixtrack for some reason, so i had no choice but to upgrade. i would do it with the mixtrack pro if i could but i just cant. and dont worry, i totally agree on your second part.

I like using both programs, so it was easier for me just to get the sx.

well…my dream is almost true. i just ordered my ddj-sx and i have the hdj-2000’s. the only thing left to get is a f1. Once i get the gear im saving up for a studio speaker set up. most likely a rokit 5 and a 10s. and a pa system too.

ok, well think about this. With traktor you have remix decks and samples that allow you to put in random custom sounds through out the song. when your djing hip hop i know plenty of people would be very pissed if you messed up baby got back with some lil jon Yeahs! in there for no reason and no corrolation to mixing in a lil jon song next, it would be pointless. But when you are mixing with techno those little sounds become a blessing. It allows you to liven up your mix. make it sound more “unique”. And also traktor has more effects with it. Now i dont really use effects to much but im gonna start when i get my sx cause serato dj has more to choose from than my old serato dj intro. But with those effects it makes mixing waaaay easier. Im used to just beatmatching, maybe lowering the bass on the old track and just praying it mixes well. But im being taught how to use the effects section of both softwares and it makes mixing sooo much better. Like my boss was playing starships by ncicki minaj, and he was told by the manager to slow it down cause people needed to start leaving. So he pulled up sexual healing and the echo effect. he started echoing out starships and just drop in sexual healing and it sounded amazing. He dropped 30+bpm to the next song but it still sounded awesome. So im defiantly going to start learning how to use the effects and you should too. they are a blessing to all dj’s lol. hope this helped.
