VasteParticipant
I listened to your mix today at work and I think it wasn’t bad for a first mix. I liked the tracks you had chosen, but I think your mixing could use a bit of work as overall there was a bit of “flow” missing when moving between the tracks. In any case, I hope to hear another mix from you soon.
VasteParticipantI’ve been meaning to give this feedback some time ago, but I can’t remember if it was for this one or the Tech It Out Vol 3. In any case, I noticed you have started using a name drop, which is fine, but I think it could maybe use a bit more “blending” as it came off a bit dry sounding to me. Also, there was one drop right about the middle of the mix which was during the middle of a build up or something similar that sounded “off”, so that could be something to look out for in the future.
Other than that, solid work once again. 🙂
VasteParticipantI’m not sure if it is just me, but I think the mix is a tad low on volume. Even with the volume cranked all the way up the background noice at my work place is louder even when I’m listening to music with headphones (although crappy ones).
VasteParticipantWell, since you were kind enough to start following me I started following you before listening to another mix based on your track selection. I listened to the Earth and Sky 002, and that one made sure I didn’t make a mistake when I started follwing you. You have a lot of tracks in your sets that are really right up my alley and since the transitions are solid it’s nice to listen to your mixes. Now if I only had the time to go through all of them. 🙂
I noticed you have lots of different “themes” going on. Do you have some ellaboration somewhere what each of these themes holds, for example is there a difference between the Infinite Horizons series and the Earth and Sky series?
VasteParticipantI listened to your mix and I really liked the fact that after reading your bio, your mix delivered exactly what the bio promised. Did you write it yourself?
VasteParticipantI’m sorry to say that I listened to your mix but can’t remember what I thought of it. It could be because the mix was quite short (promo/competition length), so I think it would need a bit more “showcase” in it to be more memorable.
VasteParticipantI listened to your mix last week and kind of forgot what I was to comment about it, but if I recall correctly the earlier part of the mix seemed somewhat boring, but as the mix got past the middle it picked off (I recall checking the track list for several of the tracks as they were playing as the flow was nice and tracks were good). But yeah, noticed you had tons of mixes uploaded so I’m probably going to listen to a few more of your mixes this week and if I like them enough you’ll get the follow support you want. 🙂
VasteParticipantShame on you for being quiet, music is life.
On a serious note though, as I replied in Twitter, I enjoyed your mix. I prefer 1h mixes, but yours didn’t feel too long at all and it progressed nicely, so good work.
VasteParticipantI was a bit late and listened to your mix just last week, but as some future feedback, I think the mix ended quite abruptly. If you want to do an ending like that I think some echo or other effect might make it a bit more stylish.
VasteParticipantI listened to both your mixes as well and enjoyed them quite a bit. I agree with GroovePunk in that they both had a nice positive vibe in them. Can’t wait for your next one. 🙂
VasteParticipantEnjoyed both this and the holiday launch mix enough to start following you. Can’t really give more feedback as both mixes are of genres I’m not really too fond of, but you’re apparently doing something right as I liked the mixes nonetheless. 🙂
VasteParticipantThanks for taking the time to listen and give feedback; it makes total sense. I’ve been listening to the mix quite a bit trying to figure out the “X” it is missing to no avail, so cheers on pointing out on what to improve upon in the future.
VasteParticipantI listened to your mix some time back at work, and I agree with Terry that at that one spot the clash was quite nasty, but overall I think the mix was still enjoyable. I didn’t watch the video, so can’t comment on that, but I’m interested in seeing what else you put up.
VasteParticipantDamn you and your tech house, I didn’t even know I like tech house until I started following your mixes. Good stuff, as usual. 🙂
VasteParticipantI agree with the people above and the first transition almost made me switch to something else as the melody clash was quite awful. But in the end I’m glad I didn’t as the mix got a lot better as it progressed.
Related to the topic of making your own edits, I suggest looking at a Dj software called One Dj. It’s still in kind of an early development phase but that software seems to be going in the direction of providing live editing of tracks combined with your regular Dj software, which seems really cool. The timeline edit mode reminds me of a limited Mixmeister version and the developers seem to be active in listening to what people want, so it might have a bright future ahead. Basically it allows you to freely cut/mix/match/whatever tracks inside one “traditional” track and those can even be saved for later use, so you could essentially create your shortened mixes before hand and then mix them live quite easily with that one.
Cheers,
