Thanks for the info. I spend more time on my work than SM. And yes, those 887 videos were my own tracks! I know, it’s a lot and I’m still kicking. I know I shouldn’t worry so much about changing my art. The problem is that I made artwork by manipulating images from videogames in photoshop. Though nothing is recognizable, some will still tell me that it’s copyright infringement.
Facebook and Youtube I see as beneficial.
Soundcloud, not really.
Twitter, I may get 500 followers in one week but most of it is probably spam. And I never really use it.When it comes to vids on youtube, should just vids containing just audio tracks be used at all or is it better to have something with activity going on? My vids were just audio tracks. I haven’t made any real music vids yet.
Axel Dark-KeyParticipantI’m considering mixcloud eventually. I don’t use LinkedIn as I heard it was mainly for resumes. I have no need. That would be pointless. I was on Reverbnation at one time, but it became a pain to update, so I deleted. I only use Google + because my Youtube profile is connected to it. And I don’t spam. The purpose is to get real fans not beg people to follow. I watched a cosplay video by FanService Renji on Youtube that presented the same kind of message: Not spamming your page all over the place. Paying for likes is also a bad idea as it’s not real.
Axel Dark-KeyParticipantGotcha. So, being an independent artist, should I post and share videos of my other favorite artists as well as interests on my media? Would that help to bring more attention because my main site that I am now working on is a free site by weebly so it doesn’t show up in search engines? I can’t pay for a domain just yet. I don’t even have a bank account. I try to keep it as uncluttered as possible, but it seems impossible. I used to post tons of articles and even video game links on it because my project is inspired by video games, but I stopped because it feels like too much though it really isn’t. I post convention videos, cosplay, and other things it’s associated with.
Axel Dark-KeyParticipantThat’s what I thought. I wanted to be sure though.
Axel Dark-KeyParticipantWhen you say pay for music, you mean buy the CD or track off ITunes right? Not paying royalties to the artists for using it.
Axel Dark-KeyParticipantThanks. I will say I managed to install Serato and it works perfectly now. But if anyone will help me find the Numark driver for VDJ, that would be great because it will take me some time to learn Serato. I am already familiar with VDJ, its interface, and layout, so it’s easier to use.
Axel Dark-KeyParticipantThanks for this info. Where would I find the driver on the Numark website? The only downloadable drivers that I found were for this: http://www.numark.com/product/djio and I’m not sure if this will work or not.
Axel Dark-KeyParticipantHere are the screenshots:
Axel Dark-KeyParticipantJust tried all of that and made sure the dials were all the way up as well as on VDJ and still no luck. I have my PC speakers plugged into master. Audio will play on things like videos, so no need to disconnect them and plug them into the audio jack. I’m just not getting any sound from VDJ. I hope it’s not a defective soundcard.
Axel Dark-KeyParticipantI tried to post the screenshots, but it won’t let me. It keeps asking for a URL instead of letting me post it directly.
So far the two main settings that I have tried were:
ASIO v.2 Master Ch3&4, Headphones Ch1&2; Speakers Realtek Digital Audio
4.1 Soundcard Master Rear Output, Headphones Front Output; Speakers Realtek Digital Audio
Still no luck, I even reinstalled ASIO
Axel Dark-KeyParticipantThanks. I don’t plan on going global, maybe on youtube or some online radio show, but not tours unless I would play along side another artist should that ever happen.
Axel Dark-KeyParticipantI’m definitely a noob completely.
September 24, 2015 at 9:30 pm in reply to: DJing & Work: Should I Give Up Before I Even Begin? #2260141Axel Dark-KeyParticipantI love producing. It’s like candy to me seriously. I’m working on a 70 track project right now. I post my work to YouTube, Facebook, Bandcamp, ReverbNation, and Twitter where I already have over 1000 followers. I want to try DJing, but I may not get expensive gear right now. Because of time management, the Mixtrack Edge sounds like a good choice even though others have said no because I can find it at Guitar Center for only 79 bucks. So if I don’t have that much time to practise, it won’t be a waste and as I get more money I can invest in a better one. Also it’s totally affordable for my mom to get me for Christmas.
Axel Dark-KeyParticipantThat’s exactly what I would like to do. I’ve been looking on Guitar Center’s website and they have some pretty good deals. I seen the Mixtrack pro 2 and Pioneer DDJ SB for under $200. Most of them are in excellent condition.
Axel Dark-KeyParticipantSorry. I’m just beginning making the step from producer to performer/DJ and I’m wanting to make sure that I will stick with it and don’t want to spend a lot of money just in case it’s not my thing. I’m trying to find something that my parents can afford to get me for Christmas this year as they do not have that much money. And I’m pretty sure they got me a sh***y laptop too, which makes me really upset. The one I would really like to have is either Mixtrack Pro 2 or 3, or Pioneer DDJ SB. And my expectations: well I hope to be able to practise and get good enough to play a gig by the end of next year.
