I use an “Ultimate Support Hyperstation” laptop stand. I found the crane ones and other were too small for my giant a laptop, but this thing does the job.
Edit: Edited for bad language, consider this a warning.

WeaverParticipantMy biggest complaint is really the massive over compression that’s happening across the board (though this is happening in other genres outside of electronic music as well).
Listening to tracks from even the mid 90’s they have a much higher dynamic range in them.

The other benefit with doing that is you get to try out a bunch of different setups if you want before you decide what one you’d want to buy 😉WeaverParticipantI mean, this is a question you have to answer for yourself lol. I’m not really sure why you feel guilty.
Maybe you feel like because you didn’t put in the work to dig for that rare track you somehow don’t “deserve” it or something?

So, thanks!
WeaverParticipantTotally! It’s a complete market changer!
WeaverParticipantMan, I just can’t form correct sentences today lol.
WeaverParticipantThe closest you’re going to get at that price range is the Behringer DDM4000. I’ve never used one, It’s Behringer quality (not that great) but the reviews for it were actually pretty positive.
I will say, it has a very stupid position for the headphone jack I think I’ve ever seen though.
WeaverParticipantThis reminds me, once I was at a party that they decided to literally throw the CD’s into the crowd while the DJ was playing. As they were tossing one my way, a stage light took that opportune moment to shine right in my eyes. I was momentarily blind and took a CD case right to the face lol.
At least everyone around me was nice enough to let me keep it 😛
Anyways, my advice is: whatever you do, please hand them to people 🙂
WeaverParticipantThat would just take one drunk person and… Sploosh!
WeaverParticipantOn the topic of headphones, has anyone had a chance to try the new HD7’s and/or HD8’s? I’m curious how well they isolate sound compared to the HD 25-II’s.
March 10, 2014 at 9:23 pm in reply to: Set Question – What Do I Play if I'm the Last of Three "Openers"? #2009539WeaverParticipantlol that could be, Rob! I pretty much only do hardcore parties so I’m expecting to be pumped up the whole night. 9 hours of pure energy in some sketchy club is how I’ve partied for a good 10 years lol. I want to dance and I want to dance hard. I’m sure things are a lot difference in the trance scene, for instance.
WeaverParticipantYou’ll probably encounter the exchange rate. Right now, it will cost 107.70 CAD 🙂
WeaverParticipantWhile I’m no audio engineer, I think you’re basically on the right track 😛
My understanding is, basically, you want everyone to be able to hear the whole song. If you think of a reasonably sized stage, if you run it in stereo everyone not at the center of the venue is going to only be hearing one “side” (R/L) of the song. If, say, you have some panned hats in the track the people on the right side of the stage would be hearing different things from people on the left side of the stage.
What you really want them to be hearing is everything! To do that, smoosh everything into a mono space to solve the problem.
I’m sure there’s lots of other reasons for it as well, but this is my limited comprehension of the situation.
WeaverParticipantGood luck with the move! We look forward to your return 🙂
