Novation just announced an update to its hugely popular Launchkey Mini 25-key mini keyboard controller for Ableton Live. The standout features on this iteration of the keyboard are the arpeggiator which lets you play different melodies and rhythms by holding down on a key or keys, and the Fixed Chord feature that lets you play chords instantly using one finger.

Other controls include touch strips for pitch bend and modulation controls, 16 velocity-sensitive RGB pads for triggering clips and controlling instruments in Ableton Live, and eight rotary knobs. You also get Midi footswitch and Midi Out sockets in the rear, plus a USB jack for hooking up to your laptop.

We absolutely love the Novation Launchkey Mini – it’s the keyboard that we frequently recommend to new DJ/producers who want a keyboard controller for use with Ableton Live because it’s cheap and it’s got everything a budding producer might need in a small package. It’s also great for advanced producers who want something they can take with them onstage or for producing on the move. This new Launchkey Mini Mk3 packs even more awesome production and performance features into the unit, and we’re willing to bet it’s going to fly off the shelves.
