So I purchased VirtualDJ Pro a few months back, and have been slowly growing profcient in it’s use. But I don’t like a few features, such as how the library works and the interface. I was wondering if there is something better out there that is generic enough that it will work with my controller (Pioneer DDJ-Ergo) and handles library stuff better, as well as having a more intuitive library system.

Hey Yaka. Do you like the Pioneer S-DJ05 Monitor Speakers? Did you ever think about getting the 8″ monitors? I was debating about getting the 5’s versus the 8’s or simply going with the Yahama HS80Ms. I had the Mackie MR8mk2, but in my opinion they were prone overheating issues.

FYI about this unit: I was checking out a guy’s Youtube channel and he has been using the DDJ-SX for gigs already. The one issue that stood out to me was that one of the platters froze or started going backwards on him so he started using 1 & 4. I suspect he was using 1 & 3 initially. The problem cleared up after he took the unit home and plugged everything back in. So, there may be a glitch with the software Serato DJ. The channel is “DJ C Smith” (a DJ in Detroit) if memory serves me.

    Hi guys,

I have an IPAD 3 and I wondered if I can use it to run the new serrato dj sotware that comes with the DDJ – SX Controller? I have looked on the serrato website and it says serrato is now available for the IPAD but doesn’t really go into great detail.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I have not had the chance to use one for long, but the reviews are good.
So early in the product cycle we prolly need to wait to see if they hold up against the test of time…

Hi Just after some input from people with experience and other beginner’s like Myself out there. Am tossing up between pioneers ddj sx and some Audio Technica’s LP120’s and and traktor Z2 mixer for my first setup, I have never spun turntables or cd’s before is it better to build my skill’s on turntables first or would both be good to learn on? I am not to concerned on the whole size, i guess it’s about price as i can get both for around the same $$ and the sorftware/equipment to learn and progress on. Would be playing mostly elctro, house and breaks am interested in looping and samples probably not so much scratching or juggling. I like that turntables and mixer are both digital and analog so can play without a computer and use to play some old vinyl on. Hope this is not to confusing, all or any advice would be much apprieciated

DiBartdi, you will come to realize, that DJs and promoters are probably the most picky and opinionated people you will ever meet…and thats a good thing for the most part. Wearing fashion statements and bling no matter of what type will put a lot of people off. Now i know that you are not DJing for other DJs or the promoters, but chances are that those peer groups are the ones to give you more gigs. By being accepted by your peers you can then focus on utilitizing the connections you make to further your goals.

By using something like the Beats Pro, you are making a statement…and that statement is hey look at me i have all this cash and i spent it on an accessory, and not a Utility item.

I made this statement before and i stick by it…if you are working on a construction site and you had to haul a load of shit away…would you drive a pick up truck or a ferrari? Yeah you make look cool as shit in ur ferrari but NONE of your peers would take you seriously.

This is the EXACT same when it comes to DJing…actually probably more when it comes to DJing because it is a bit of a popularity contest with your fellow DJs as well as ur fans.

Ur fans are not going to care wtf you are wearing…either beats or pioneers etc. BUT a lot of promoters and other DJs will be like LMAO look at that fool hes using beats…guy must be a newb. even people who have never seen you spin before will automatically associate BEATs to kids and amateaurs. Now if you mess up during a set…and wear the beats…promoters will associate you to being a rookie even more.

Where as if you were to wear Pioneer or Denons or Ultrasones, you have the right tool for the right job.

You wouldnt use a gardening shovel to shovel snow…so use the proper headphones for the proper job, if you ever want to get into production you will need a pair of STUDIO grade headphones…and no matter what BEATS say…any Beats line are not studio Quality.

On a side note, Monster has dropped the contract for the Dr. Dre Beats and will no longer be in production.

Not being a fan of beats myself this hit the nail on the head. Think i will be quoting this alot…..lol

My issue is however, I cant try any of the DJ equipment I buy as I ship it from the US ’cause in here (Argentina) maybe the same HDJ2000 instead of costing 240, they are sold at over 2500 pesos (which is like 500 dollars). And I can only get them second hand in here, which isnt worth it. Thats why I ask for so many opinions in here. As far as Ive read these Pioneer headphones are amazing and they would fit my style. I also looked for the Denon as I generally like their products but the durability is appearly too low 🙁
Thanks for everything Hee Won Jung 🙂 see ya round

Headphones are totally a personal decision since not all heads are made the same.

After you have decided on a few brands of quality monitors then its just a matter of personal preference…what i may really like someone may not as their head is bigger or smaller than mine.

Best is just to go down and try some different pairs on and see what you like the most.

Personally if my HDJ2000s (2 years old and still not a thing wrong with them with steady gigging) ever break…i will definately be buying another pair…if pioneer hasnt upgraded its flagship headphones.

    Pioneer, Ultrasone, Denons…

Personally I use the HDJ-2000s, and i love them…yeah they arnt that flashy looking but they have amazing construction, and super comfortable.

The thing with Turntables/CDJs and a mixer is that do you really want to haul all that crap with you to your gigs? What happens if the Venue/Promoter has Denon CDJs not Pioneer, or a Rane or zone mixer and not a Pioneer?

I too am going to be buying a CDJ/Mixer setup again since i sold my last one, but im saving until i can get 2X2000s and a 900 or a 2000 mixer.

The great thing about having a good controller is that no matter where you go or what setup they have you can still go out and play your set exactly the way you want in any scenario.

I dont want to practice on shitty cdj350s and a 400 when i can do 100X more on my controller.
