I guess what I don’t like about it is that you have to be in offline mode (at least I think you do) to be able to ‘fully analyze’ and set a beatgrid automatically. I know you can set one manually but I’m used to VDJ where simply throwing a track on deck will handle all of that.

For me, The Beat Gridding is thus far the best out of all the software, Very easy to adjust for individual tracks

You need to tick the “Set Beatgrid” and also tick the “Set Auto BPM” and your BPM Range, and then the software will work out all the beatgrids for the tracks.

    Hope this helps 🙂

I’ve been djing for 15 years. In 5 years no one will question controllers or the sync button. They just make sense. The truth is the focus going forward should be an all-in-one controller that is pro build quality and doesn’t require a laptop. That’s basically what the pioneer setup is, just in modular form. Now if I had the 5 grand to spend on a setup…

Just got mine last night. Wow I was blown away at the quality.

Jogs are perfect IMO. They feel like numark jogs but with aluminum construction and more weight to them. Very responsive. Not like cheap plastic jogs like all other pioneer controllers and not noisy and cheap like Cdj jogs.

Performance pads are very nice. Soft velvety feel, very sensitive so you can drum two fingers on a pad easily. Very brightly backlit as well.

Software is taking me some time to get used to. Setting beat grids is confusing. If you scan your music or add a track it wot set a beat grid and you can’t use the slicer without a grid set. You must drag your music to the analyze box in offline mode or set it manually. Kind of annoying as other software this is done automatically.

As stated, the effects have wayyyy to many parameters to be used easily without lots of practice. It’s nice but when you have 3 knobs and 3 parameter buttons for each effect – even simple ones like flange – it is a little cumbersome.

It’s huge! Didn’t think it was going to be this big

I absolutely love it but it will take some getting used to. Coming from a mix track pro ad custom sampler midi controller

    Hi guys,

I know this question has been asked many times in many different forums and I can assure you I read most of them.
But my question is a bit different: I have been djing for a while in a numark mixtrack pro and now I would like to upgrade my gear.
My ultimate goal would be to dj in CDJ’s since they are sort of club standard.
I am torn between these controllers:
    Kontrol S4
    Pioneer DDJ-T1
    Denon MC-6000
    Xone:4D
    XDJ-Aero
    DDJ-SX

The Kontrol S4 attracts me because it is really successful and many people recommend it.
The DDJ-T1 is also a choice because its layout is very similar to CDJ’s + mixer.
MC-6000 and Xone:4D seem great because they can be used as a standalone mixer in case I decide to buy a pair of CDJ’s afterwards and then they could be used a mixer.
XDJ-Aero seems nice because I don’t necessarily need to have a laptop with me so it kind of replicates djing with CDJ’s + mixer.
DDJ-SX looks like a very good controller however it still needs software and it uses Serato and I am sort of a Traktor guy.

Another option however more expensive would be to buy a pair of CDJ-350’s + DJM 350.

    Thank you very much!

Well, I have to agree with the above.

The sound quality is loud and it’s proud, 24-bit depth and it’s crystal clear. My only gripe is having to sit down and mess with the effects to get the sound I want. You might want to use the HP/LP Filter in the software over the DJM style filter as you can really tune the software filter and remove that added resonance the DJM has..

But the effects are -_- being able to choose the wave, Sine, Saw, Square etc etc, It’s something you don’t want to be changing or engaging a certain effect when doing a gig without fully understanding or getting to know what does what. But they sound very high quality.

Also not fully worked out how the slicer works yet…

Moving from such a small controller to a big one, I’m having to adjust my performance, and I feel like a total noob! But that’s only because it’s a new piece of gear.

    I’m super impressed!

By the way gulli, I didn’t get that email… What did they say?

Just a little tip here that might save you some time and money here.

You will need to request proof from the previous owner that he/she has unregistered the product before selling it to you. Note that this process can take up to 2 weeks. Until his license is unregistered, you will not be able to active the license in your name.

What Hee said. The Aero might be useful under “special conditions” but it is much more specialized a product and has much less features.

Piioneer are very like Apple… in the sense that they build not only amazing products but they make them look so so good. There is talk that introducing sync in them is a negative… but like all business you have to stay ahead of the game and to take back lost ground to traktor and serato i think they had to include these features.

Now at 5grand for the whole package i think i would want to be making at least that i year from djing before i would be buying them… but there is no doubt id rather dj on pioneer CDJs than a laptop.

    Dear Santa….lol

Kontrol S4 hands down no contest.

The only pioneer controller that is worth grabbing is the DDJ-SX….which mine should hopefully be arriving in the mail in the next week or 2 😀 currently I am using the S4…and the S4 rocks…best integration for Traktor.

IMO the Aero is a gimmick, and a bad gimmick at that.

Both are around the same price, what would you say is the best to get for a bedroom DJ, fairly new?

I’ve been told the Pioneer are easy to learn on and a great gear at all levels, and the closest to the CDJ 2000’s you will get.

Also, the Pioneer aero is talked about as a ‘wireless’ kit, but I assume you can still plug it in to your laptop etc? I will not be using the wireless feature so is there another pioneer model in the same standard range that doesn’t have the wireless feature? Don’t want to spend extra on something I won’t use!

I can try get a traktor S4 second hand for around £550 which means I could spend an extra bit of money on some decent speakers etc. What you guys think? Cheers

I totaly love it. it is a bit big but a lot lighter then it looks. Mixer feels a lote like the DJM 800 or 900 , then knobs are nice and stiff fader also. most button have a nice click feel so can feel that you have pressed them. The pads are almost identical to Maschine pads, I wouldn’t mind if the had the click feel of the F1 would be better for hotcue jogeling. Jogwheel also feel realy good. The sound is lovely realy alot louder then my VMS4.
I tried hooking up my American Audio Radius 3000 to test the standalone mixer and it also works amazingly well nice filter and EQ, I also connected a Shure PG58 and it does not distort as some have reported their mic does.
Serato DJ it’s an ok software but at the version 1 there are lots of things they need to add, scraching DJ should us Serato DJ as it’s best with this controller. I’ve mostley used the controller with Traktor Pro 2.6 and it works like a charm with DDJ SX.
With Traktor the DDJ SX feels like it’s was made with the lates version in mind. Vipers tsi gives you all S4 functionaletis + a lot more. I’ve started on my own tsi. with the DDJ SX you get everything Flux (slip button) post fader FX, several pad banks(Mapped to your hearth desire). I can’t see any controller for a EDM DJ tahat can give you so much kontroll over Traktor, Hip Hop (scratch)DJ’s who want to use Traktor this is probable not the one for you.
There is also of today a VDJ mapper for it, only just tried it and most functions from the standar VDJ skin are mapped.
This is the most compleat Traktor controller I’ve ever used.
For Serato users this is the be all controller for Serato DJ, Intro and Itch controllers that will get compadabillety later will all be missing some futures. I resived an email today telling me that a new version of Serato DJ is on it’s way.
