Well I only had my hands on it for 10min, but I found the jogs too small and too “sticky” for scratching. But then some people can pull off scratching on an S4, where I have the same problem on that one.
Arj, i was in your shoes not too long ago. Here’s my (very serious) 2 cents. The Mixtrack Pro is the Titan of the beginner price point for a reason – it has a ton of good features for a good price. the MTP may be plastic, but it is BIG for this price point, and looks as ‘professional’ as you’re going to get for $220. i.e. – its not a toy.
From what I know about the We Go (i did a lot of prelim research when it first came out not too long ago) is everyone seems to be in consensus that it is overpriced (no surprise there, coming from Pioneer). Also, the overtone from the many reviews ive looked at is this piece of kit seems to definately be more of a toy. Yea, its got pretty flashy lights on the jogs and it lights up and is shiny, but if you want to get serious, many DJ’s you interact with will deem it tacky. When i watched reviews, it reminded me of those Sketchers you had as a kid that lit up when you walked. Also, the look and layout is a bit wierd. While the MTP is a big rectange with little frills, the WEGO has a wierd shape (i think its tilted?) and is rounded at the corners and just looks…different – (not saying this is bad). ALSO a big thing i want to mention is the Cue button placement of both—
While yes it may be wierd that the MTP has it’s cues at the top of the controller (i use an MTP and dont mind), they’re all right there and you can use them easily./
The Cue buttons for the WEGO are just downright wierd. theyre rounded around the jogs if i remember correctly, so theyre not all there for you to hit with one hand if you want.
^ What you’ll discover as a beginner DJ and if you ask any DJ out there, is the massive importance of Cue points. that being said, the access to the buttons on the WEGO would just be a little too out there to use effectively
So IN MY OPINION:
MTP – realistic – MASSIVELY popular – good price – does not look like a toy
WEGO – a bit flashy (some would call tacky) – overpriced for this price point – lacks some funtionality for the sake of fashion – looks a bit like a toy, less like a legitimate piece of kit.
Just my 2 🙂

what are the jogwheels like for scratching?

Well, looks to me as the DDJ-WeGO has more features, although a little more expensive, but i think the WeGo is going to last you longer…
But ultimatly you should do some research and compare the two for yourself.
Hello Chachi,
I can t recommend Reloop products, because of its bad quality (my experience). Also when you pay so much money for a product, you should be happy for years!
Did you see the Video of the new Pioneer WeGo already? The controller is almost in the same price range like the reloop, numark products, which you mentioned. But you can be more creative wit the Pioneer. Enjoy:

But so for from what I have seen I like it a lot. I haven’t used the twitch in any environment outside my room yet so haven’t noticed the soundcard issues many people talk about. As of right now I’m happy that the controller can do. I have tons to learn still with the controller and the software.. I really like Serato even though the fx seem pretty limited compared to traktor, but for me it’s not a big deal right now because I don’t even know how to use those small amount of fx good yet. I am super excited for the new software though, of course. Now its just practise practise practise and hopefully advance from my room to some more lucrative venues.
Thinking the same ways Terry not as main gear, but to play around. Definitely a creative package, maybe the most creative package in this price range?
I like. I think it is a small creative package, hope I can try it out soon. Not that I would use it as my main gear, but for fun playing around etc. it looks really nice. Maybe Phil will get one to test soon.
Yea its small, but for beginners not bad and comes with a lot of good features. I am also thinking about to get me one, to use it on the road, while travelling with plane or train. could defenitly fit in every bag 😉
That looks like a toy it’s so small.

hi,
am an amateur bedroom dj running hercules instinct with djuced. Yes its cheap and basic but does an ok job.
Now i want to upgrade to a better system..not majorly expensive but something with a bit more meat on it..i was looking at the Hercules RMX2 and the DDJ-wego or a serato scratch 2..
just want some advice..
Hello everyone!
Couple of years ago I was a bedroom DJ with Behringer BCD3000. The controller was pretty cheap – bad build quality, cheap components (knobs and faders), etc. After a year of painful mixing I sold it and forgot about being a “home dj”.
Until few weeks ago. I decided to return to be a bedroom DJ and found out that there are pretty good 14 bit MIDI controllers. High resolution pitch faders are very important to me, because I tend to use them for beatmatching (greetings to ellaskins).
I’m thinking about two options:
– Denon SC-2000 (for beatmatching and effects)
– external mixer (i.e. Numark M2 – 3 band EQ)
– audio interface (Traktor Audio 2)
or some MIDI DJ controller with high precision (14 bit) and quite long pitch faders. Something like Reloop Terminal Mix 2.
First option (SC-2000, Numark M2, TA2) gives me more flexibility in my DJ setup (i.e. buying additional SC-2000 or CDJ player, changing mixer, etc.). On the other side, MIDI DJ controller is all-in-one package. Easy to transport, lightweight, and more compact.
Which DJ setup I should buy? I’m not a totally new in mixing and I’m not interested in wacky DJ MIDI controllers (like Pioneer WeGO). I need a solid, kind of basic DJ setup to make a fine beatmatch, play with EQ and some effects.
Oh, and one more thing – I’m using MacBook (OSX 10.6).
I’ll be appreciated for any help!
