A bit of an after thought but would it be worth looking at something like this: http://www.music-pc.com/ ?

Yeah and then there was bass feedback or bouncy floors – useless on a river boat. The good old days eh?

Don’t want to sound old here but the only optimisation a 1210 took was swapping the mat out for a slip mat… did lugging all that vinyl round again though.

Hey Robot – you can definitely turn the 2 finger scrolling off in mouse settings let me know If you can’t find the settings and I’ll have a look -I would do now but I’m on the wrong side of a bottle Scotch for that stuff at the moment.

Just picked up a couple of Lenovo’s – price was good even with upgraded ssd. Robot was right about the mouse pad though, if I caught it with 2 fingers it caused all kind of problems. Fortunately that can be fixed in mouse settings which are quite extensive for the Lenovo, (not sure if you are having the same problem Robot?). With that said; if I had of bought a Mac I wouldn’t have wasted chunks of my life ‘optimising’. The process aint over yet – Windows wants to update but the latest up date fries the CPU so rolled back for now but will get back to tweaking. Are Mac’s really plug and play?

Just saying thanks for the advice guys, got my MC6000 yesterday and as it’s the 1st proper controller I’ve had I spent all night (6am) getting used to it. Lots of fun and definitely a Denon feel to it.

Go for it – a monitor will make all the difference. We keep several pairs of cheaper end active 12s on hire stock so I normally just grab one of them and go. In other words cheap used to be appalling but there is some really reasonable good gear round these days that you don’t have to pay silly money for – remember the law of diminishing returns.

Good question Vintage. Maybe nothing more than allowing some time for any teething problems to be fixed.

…or maybe because for a mobile DJ watching people lean over the booth screen with pints of beer in hand right above a fairly expensive bit of kit is a bit scary.

Oh yeah and just hitting our quite time of year in NZ so at 2.5 times the cost of the 6000 the 8000 can wait.

Sorry can’t do one reason answers LOL.

Hi Digital DJ, that is the sort of thing I would probably do. While I confess I’m not early adopter, my problem is I normally try to look for different solutions to what everybody else is doing, which usually ends making my life more difficult.
…so if the world is using laptops / Macbooks maybe I’ll wait until everyone else is using tablets.

TBH my digital set up is pitiful but in all the years I’ve run it the 3 crashes I’ve had could have been avoided (in other words 2 were my fault and the 3rd was my not knowing the limitations of my set up).

No doubt you have tried to find solutions to your crashes with Traktor via their forum? If you can’t resolve it maybe it’s just time to jump ship and try some other software again. I know little about Traktor but I’m sure that I read somewhere that it’s users were getting the feeling that it works well with Mac not so good with PCs, that is of course hearsay but maybe a Traktor user can advise on this?

BTW to answer Todd’s question, yes I use the HC4500 with a PCDJ loaded laptop. I’ve got 2 new Lenovos to pick up tomorrow, also it’s time to ditch the PCDJ which has been good, it’s just time for something new but that’s a different thread.

Well I’ve never been an early adopter that’s for sure but yep it’s time to make the jump. Gonna get me a 6000mk2 tomorrow. That’s if I can listen to my own advice and leave the 8000 on the shelf.

    Thanks Todd,

I’m a big fan of hardware mixers but if it means I have to get used to the differences you describe to be able to walk into a venue with a controller under one arm as opposed to waddling in with a box that feels like a lead weight, I think I can learn to live with it!
