Also while the NS6 jogs are good, the Terminal Mix has (in my opinion) the best non-motorized jogwheels for scratching that I have ever seen on any controller.

The only thing I am still missing on the TM4 is a working slicer (it has the button, it just doesnt do anything, yet). But I hope reloop will make it happen.

Terry please answer my new question on the DJ Booth section. Thanks.

Elaborate, please. Do you have a tutorial video or article?

Sounds like I shall go with the Terminal Mix 4. I’m just not a fan of the NS6.

If the flow you not have, the force might hit you hard… his actions might arouse the force of others and damaged your image will be.
Never diss people that are drunk, not each of them is beyond thinking, most guest actually are just “slight drunk”.

Of course this is different if you only DJ students parties and they hit the cliché that each of them is so drunk they do not remember their own name.

I never said flow wasn’t important, I just said music selection is more important.

Yes! Random question – does the NS6 come with dedicated LPF/HPF filter knobs?

My take on it, is that DJ’s are typically playing for drunk people anyways, so flow isn’t as important. But rather, the selection.

THANK YOU. I try to avoid using the SYNC button when showing another DJ my mix because I know, for a fact, they will complain and complain about the fact that I use it. But when I am performing in front of an actual crowd (I’m still a beginner, so not often, maybe only 100 people at a house party or so), I use the SYNC button – I don’t care. Well, in fact, nobody cares. Nobody cares if you’re using the SYNC button. Only idiots complain about the SYNC button.

You can check out DJ Angelos scratch demo here, and yes he can pull it off, I have seen it live…

And here is a video of the old NS 7 the new NS 7 II has lots of advancements…

Wow! That Terminal Mix 4 looks very nice, and affordable. I’m not a fan of the NS7, to be honest. I think it’s a neat, innovative device but it’s just too large, expensive and clunky for me, a beginner, mobile DJ. I would make an exception, though, if there was a more affordable way of getting digitized turntables for Serato.

But you would recommend the Terminal Mix 4 over the Numark NS6?

Yeah the SC3900 are sweet 😉 and yes with a Serato Mixer (the new rane is so sexy…) it would be awesome, but extremely expensive and you need to hook everything up …
The NS 7 II while still expensive and smaller platters, they do feel nice. I only had hands on time with the prototype, but the platters felt very good, torque was nice and also adjustable (not sure how much) and you can definitely pull of all the scratch moves you want.

So in the end it will be a matter of taste and budget.

I really want that vinyl feel so that scratching is easier and more efficient. On my current controller, the platters are only 4″ in diameter and they’re so difficult to scratch on. It’s a good controller for electro-dance music but most of my music is hip hop! What do you scratch with, Terry?

What exactly is a “USB turntable”?

    Make the connection …
And i dont know why you NEVER tell people you a DJ ? DO tell ! If the topic never comes up, bring up the topic yourself ! Heck, you went to the club and party, these are “your people”, your “future clients” ! Let them know you A DJ ! Its not a “pushy” attitude, its a marketing strategies…

“Yeah man, I just spinned at this local parties last weekend, it’s hardc0re !!”
    “oh Snap !, you a dj ??”
    “Yeah !”
“Man, im having this private parties next week…can you…???”
    Yeah something like that …

Networking & Communication, best darn marketing strategies tips !
If you prefer the philosophy of “Silent is golden” eh, i don’t know how you can expand more …

You’re right, silence won’t get me anywhere. How did you spread word of your mobile DJ business?

(it’s ok to scream “ahhhh, salesweasel!” now, but then you must move on). Network, go to all the clubs and get to know managers/producers, if you’re on a large campus get to know the frat houses. And you have to be a little pushy to be effective at sales tactics – the saying goes if you don’t ask you don’t get. And here’s another DJ site that while rather tacky and cheesy, nonetheless has some solid business and marketing advice buried in all the crap (they’ve featured Phil’s posts on a couple of occasions, though, so I’ll cut them some slack :))

Thanks for the advice! You’re right, I know a couple kids in a frat house and I should probably start there. Helpful website!
