To be honest, if it’s not full metal construction build. I neglect it. But the Pioneer DDJ-SX is fantastic, and if I can recall correctly, the DDJ-SR is practically the same thing, only two channels instead of four (I personally don’t need four channels, to be honest).
Skepticism is smart. Go on YouTube and look at reviews.
BrandenParticipantI try and practice every day. Some days I will challenge myself to see how long I can go without screwing up. Or I’ll place an imaginary crowd in my room and act as if I’m DJ’ing at the greatest club in Las Vegas.
I also have my days where I like to just screw around, like what Terry said.
BrandenParticipantThank you, Silvercue.
BrandenParticipantProbably go with songs like “Cotton Eye Joe” or “Papa Americano”, those type of silly songs. Also, Kids Bop is good.
BrandenParticipantOne of the Acapella groups I was following got shut down last night, and was very upset about it. This is why I hate the corporate world.

I say ‘SYNC’ is not cheating, because, as Terry_42 would agree with me (referencing the post he had made to me on another thread) the SYNC button is just a tool. The SYNC button is useless to a DJ who can’t properly mix or beat-match. One little ‘SYNC’ button cannot make anybody a DJ. If this was true, I should be able to find a stranger on the street who has never DJ’d before, introduce them to the sync button, and they will be awesome DJ’s (which would never happen).
Besides, the SYNC button never properly lines up beats, anyways. I use the SYNC just to quickly get them to the same BPM if I’m in a rush to provide for a smooth transition. But I use cue points, scratching and my ears to line up beats.
BrandenParticipantProblem is with most of those websites that I checked out, they were very expensive and since I’m not a radio or professional DJ, they rejected me as a customer.

Get the crowd to sing along with you, its always work best for me to build up energy, ya know, for example, I spinned Titanium, right before the lyric “I am titanium…!” I lower down my volume, and I screamed the lyric and usually get the crowd to do the same too, good times !I usually do that with “Get Low” or “Up In Here (Party)”.
BrandenParticipantIf you’re novice don’t consider it just yet. Instead, use that same money to invest in lights or more advanced sound systems.

I always recommend the ADJ Revo III or IV as they have an immense angle, so even with a single unit you can flow a big dancefloor and if you are not yet using DMX, the standalone modes of the Revo series are outstanding. If you have that added you will be a long way.
Next step would be to add 1-2 moving heads with RGB, like the ADJ InnoColorBeam series and a fog machine. After you have all that would be the earliest I would look into lasers. As lasers I feel are lights that you cannot run all the time. They should be a “Wow” effect and if you leave them on all night, you have nothing to forward your bangers with. I dislike people who use lasers to fill the dancefloor with light, that is what moonflowers (like the Revo) are for. I think laser usage should be low over a set. However when you are ready the galaxian 3d is a good choice.
Thanks for the reply.
I can just can’t stand all those annoying dots. I can’t stand dots. Dots are so annoying. Same goes with small little rectangles everywhere. I think it’s just kind of tacky and 70’s looking.
What are some of my other options? Please no dots everywhere. I don’t understand why there can’t be just some affordable, sub-$150.00 scanners with basic scanning capabilities and sound active features. There’s no reason for it!
I asked this question one time to some guy and he had some stupid reply like “moon-flower scanners are cheaper because everybody has moon-flower effects” oh really? As opposed to basic scanners with just straight beams of light? There are more people who own LED Par Cans and other wash lights than moon-flower lights.
There’s no reason scanners with basic light beams can’t be more affordable!!!!
What are my other options besides dots?
BrandenParticipantThank you for all your help! I have actually used Garageband to extract and crop many different samples from the thousand songs or so I have to enhance my DJ’ing and it’s worked beautifully. Surprisingly, some of my favorite and most useful samples and energy enhancing samples have come form the SoundCloud for free (after being pointed to this website by some of my new-found DJ peers).

BrandenParticipantPlease ignore this thread. I ended up DJ’ing for the huge crowd for about an hour before the police arrived and I killed it!! I did quite a bit of some scratching tricks and stuff and my transitions were great, I kept the crowd hyped!!! My post is jibberish please ignore my negativity. And thank you for the support.
BrandenParticipantLMFAO.
BrandenParticipantI have never felt more ashamed in my life.
