heheheheheh. Yeah, that was a joke that I knew the Dutch folks would get… in American terms, it’s a suburb because it’s just a little town that is still very very close to Amsterdam – I can get to Amsterdam Centraal by bus faster than many folks who actually live IN Amsterdam.
deathyParticipantOh, BTW… I don’t have a car, so my “I’d be down for that” unfortunately doesn’t include the ability to pick you up from the airport, sorry.
August 6, 2014 at 1:02 pm in reply to: purchasing a new set of headphones – sensitivity & impedance #2048017deathyParticipantI am pretty stunned by how good the 201s are.
deathyParticipantNo worries about hijacking… I’d be down for that, I live in the suburbs of Amsterdam (Purmerend). heh.
deathyParticipantheh. Yeah, I know… that was a “Wayne’s World” gag, but you most certainly know a lot more than me, PLUS in another thread you referred to me as “Grasshopper,” a reference to the “Kung Fu” TV series, which must make you the Master, right? 😉
deathyParticipantDude… I’m not worthy, but some day, I would certainly love to come hang out with you and see a master at work!
deathyParticipantOne of the bosses is really into taking snaps, so I will post links here when they become available.
deathyParticipantRather than make a straight recommendation, I thought I would mention something that I’ve found which is great for discovery – there’s a site called “plug.dj” which is a kind of social room where people take turns DJing a song in the room’s theme, basically just playing YouTube or SoundCloud links. I have found this to be very useful for discovering music in particular genres that I haven’t heard (and, for folks who produce music in those categories, it is also a great way to market yourself and increase your hit count).
deathyParticipantGood post – I just sent Phil an e-mail saying they need to do something about the forum defaulting our nicknames to our e-mail addresses, ’cause that is a HORRIBLE configuration.
August 5, 2014 at 11:18 pm in reply to: purchasing a new set of headphones – sensitivity & impedance #2047957deathyParticipantThis was a really useful post for me, I needed a pair of wired headphones so I took you guys’ advice and picked up a pair of HD-201s – I am really impressed with how good they sound for a 25 euro pair of headphones, thanks!
deathyParticipantMaybe it’s just been my experience here, but every place I’ve been in here has had really incredibly noisy power… the office, my house, and the handful of short stay apartment I was in were all quite terrible. It could’ve been the lines in the houses, though.
deathyParticipantSo, I am really happy with my purchase. I have tweaked the mappings a little to match the workflow I had already started to develop with keyboard and mouse, but this is great – it is definitely less fiddly than mouse and keyboard, so this will leave me some room to start trying to experiment with other things that I didn’t have bandwidth to play with before.
deathyParticipantJust as an aside, “C) If you are in the USA, I am aware (also from friends that do a lot of live sound engineering) that power in the US is a LOT worse than it is in our part of the world (northern europe).”
That is far too broad a statement. I am originally from the US, and living in the Netherlands now, and OMG we have the WORST power here in .nl I’ve ever experienced. Simply terrible. Apparently Alaska has a better power infrastructure than the areas where the other folks you have been talking to are from – I am aware that California has pretty bad power, just due to population, but I wasn’t power hungry enough to test it out during the few trips I made there.
deathyParticipantHowdy, Kevin, welcome!
deathyParticipantI’m not a huge drinker anyway, and I sure as heck don’t intend to drink while playing… I don’t need to add more complexity to the task.
