    Nice one, Sentri!

Hi D-Jam! I mostly play the commercial electronic dance music, you know, like progressive house, big room, trance with an occasional dubstep or DnB track. I like AvB, Tiesto and Hardwell.

I’m more of a producer than a DJ. I host a podcast where I throw in the some tunes that I like. Though whenever I play, I go freestyle with random tracks and smooth transitions [not necessarily long, may even be quick, but fluid].

My logo represents my cheesy style and easy-going attitude. Based on the facts I mentioned, I think I’ve done a decent job with the logo, I went through my favourite artists’, I tried different shapes and fonts and I’ve kept it original.

    Your thoughts?

Hi deathy! Long time since I’ve heard from you!

I really like your icon that you’ve made, it almost perfect. But what if someone sees that icon somewhere online, and want to search for you, how will they do so if you don’t include your name?

The graffiti is, of course, a good starting point and there’s quite a lot to be found there. Here’s what I’ve made so far. I’m pretty happy with it but I just want some more feedback from others to see what they think. The black-and-white scheme will make it visible across most of the colour backgrounds that I can throw behind it and it also makes it easier to morph it into different colours if I choose to.

What I’m not sure about is the size and format. Currently it is a 1920 x 1080 PNG with a transparent background. Is this is best format to keep it in?

This is how it currently looks like

Slicex? Oh you mean a slicer? What DAW are you using? I don’t think he used a slicer on those, he manually took small “chips” out of the vocal by cutting and pasting and then arranged them in his own fashion and transposed them to fit with the track. And topped them with a sound mangling effect, maybe a distortion unit or a glitch plugin, I’m not sure.

Even I need help with a logo. Basically what I’m using now is my name through a font, but I’m looking to make a professional looking logo. Any ideas to where I can start? I’ve tried out all the fonts on my computer but I couldn’t find a good one.

That is not a synth, those are chopped up vocals run through a harmonizer or distorter.
Take any vocal sample [he took a female one] and then chop out [cut-and-paste] them in a sequence. You can figure out which note is being sung by using an Auto tune effect and arrange them to form a melody.

Now that you’ve made up your mind:

Go for the Mixtrack Pro 2 if you want 2 decks, go for the Mixtrack Quad if you want 4 decks. Both perform flawlessly with Serato and of course you can add your iPad. If you’re not doing any fancy beatjuggling, this should should be a pretty powerful beginner DJ setup.

W&W and trance? Pff.. I guess you should add David Guetta to the list too.

why such a grudge against Behringer, Terry? 🙂

To the OP: If you are certain that you’ll DJ for a few years at least, then go for a 4-deck controller. If you don’t want a 4-deck controller or you are not sure how serious you are about DJing, stick with a 2 deck controller.

    For 2-deck controllers:
VDJ and Serato: Mixtrack Pro 2, Traktor: S2.

PS- How is the Launchkey Mini? I’m looking to buy a small keyboard controller and have been eyeing that one for quite a long while now.

Yup, Alex is right. A few notes are totally out of tune.

    Hey guys,

I’ve got a silly question, and I didn’t want to start an entire topic on this bu, What do you do when you have slow internet? By slow I mean loading Google takes about 30 seconds. I really want to buy new music and upgrade from VDJ7 to the new VDJ8 [I’m absolutely DYING to upgrade now that I’ve bought a controller too].

Any alternatives? Offline upgrade possible? Do let me know, thanks!
