The VSM4 has pretty good built quality and its a little old so you could probably find it for cheaper. I’d also look at the Gemini G2V which is about $300 US. I also have a Mixtrack pro and i’m probably going to buy that one next.
dannyboyex@gmail.comParticipantMixtrack Pro all day
dannyboyex@gmail.comParticipantTheres some videos online where elaskins aka DJTutor does some crazy stuff to the mtp2 and it still works so even though its plastic, Its a good quality build. The mtp works out of the box with VDJ no mapping needed. Take price into consideration. Also you may want to check out the G2V.
dannyboyex@gmail.comParticipantit may be the splitter cable intermixing the signals. is it a cheap quality splitter cable?
dannyboyex@gmail.comParticipantLet me know how the turn out
dannyboyex@gmail.comParticipantI’ve never used a second set of speakers for monitoring. That’s what i thought headphones were for
dannyboyex@gmail.comParticipantI would personally go with the MTP2

Especially if you are just starting out start off with a mixtrack. It’ll work with pretty much any software and you can decide exactly what you need from there.
dannyboyex@gmail.comParticipantlol so true
dannyboyex@gmail.comParticipantno problem
dannyboyex@gmail.comParticipantSee if Mixvibes has a way to write the Key to the file. I know that in VDJ you can go into the edit file info dialogue for a song and have it saved. That way you don’t have to shell out cash for mixed in key.
dannyboyex@gmail.comParticipantI think I can answer a few of your question.
1. Serato doesn’t have native key detection, only Cross and VDJ do. If Cross writes the Key in the ‘Key’ mpe tag field, then it will show up in serato but otherwise you have to use somesort of external software.
2. It should be plug and go or you select the controller in the settings.
3. Serato has some nice effects, a little complicated for me but everyone is different.Try Intro for a little bit and see if the workflow works for you etc.
dannyboyex@gmail.comParticipantI’m glad I could help. If you ever get an akai lpd8 and decide to map it let me know 🙂
dannyboyex@gmail.comParticipantTry setting the value to 160 instead of 162 based entirely that the codes are in hexadecimal. This is interesting, let me know how it turns out.

What i meant by peak was reach their relative maximum value. I sorted the issue somehow by adding the driver name to the definition file. Until now it was only with vid and pid values since miditrace would not give me the sysexid. It was weird though, the more leds i was mapping the more piano sounds i had lol. But no piano sounds anymore so all good. and i got the leds blinking and flashing nicely.
Anyway almost there now. Two things remaining:
A. Define the jogwheels properly. How do i find the full=”xxx” value for the definition file? Miditrace? Or just trial and error until a full rotation of the jog results in a full rotation of the platter in vdj skin? I don’t expect to be scratching with them lol, but i’d like to make them perform as best as they can.
B. What script do i use in the mapping file so i can make the pitch bend buttons move the slider instead? Is it even possible?
I think i ll also remap the REV (reverse) buttons as SHIFT, to maybe add looping capabilities.
I don’t know why Im bothering with all this, as i ve got a mixtrack pro and an lpd8. but im learning new things so it’s fun.
I believe the jogwheel value for a full rotation of the jogwheel is “1.0” which is different from just “1”. For the pitch i think it’s pitch +X%
