Clifford AndersonParticipant
I haven’t tried it yet – I’ve been meaning to put it through the paces with the dataset from DJTT’s key comparison, but haven’t gotten ’round to it yet.
Clifford AndersonParticipantHowdy, 3l, welcome! There’s a post in the first category that talks about how to get an avatar, they use Gravatar here. The website’s speed seems to come and go for me, it was better when I was closer to the server while living in Europe, but now that I’m in the US, it is less responsive.
Clifford AndersonParticipantI personally do share videos and other links that I find useful, interesting, or amusing – especially from other artists that work in the same field/genres I do. I try not to post too much, but I do try to post at least a thing or two every week just so that I stay on the radar.
Clifford AndersonParticipantHonestly, I’d say the amount that you should have is the amount you can keep up. Some might disagree with me, but the key to success these days is social networking, and the more vectors you have to infect your audience with your meme/brand, the better your odds of success.
However, you must take care that you are actively able to ENGAGE with your audience on all of these. It’s not enough just to fire-and-forget a bunch of self promotion, you have to interact with not only your audience but also the other artists on these sites if you are to succeed. With how much presence you are trying to have, are you truly able to engage with the communities there? If not, THEN you might have too much.
My rule of social media – Don’t promote to your audience, engage with your audience. Make them your friends.

Clifford AndersonParticipantHi, Adam, welcome!
Clifford AndersonParticipantNot very long ago, I moved from one continent to another – a process which meant I was out of my usual cycle of processing new music into my setlist. However, I was still grabbing new releases when I had the opportunity. In the process, my unsorted folder got to where it was twice the size of my existing setlist.
This weekend, I FINALLY finished sorting ALL of my new music, adding the cream into my setlist and deleting the rest. It was an incredible amount of work.
In celebration, I threw together this little mix with some of the new tracks and some of my favorites that have withstood the test of time.
I hope you enjoy it!
Setlist:
00:00 Nelson Leeroy – No Man Has Ever Landed On The Moon (Saxo Mix)
03:49 The Snugs – Strugglin’ feat. Hannah Symons (Second Hand Audio Remix)
05:52 Basement Freaks – Boogaloo Express
07:34 DJ Soo – Saturday Night
11:14 Orphic – Panther Socks
13:42 Slynk – Inside
17:02 Asat – Weird Funky Noises
19:27 Warp9 – Space Bees
20:19 Psymbionic – Facade ft. ONE4ALL (Zebbler Encanti Experience Remix)
23:33 Paranox & BBK – Monsta (Dj Ekl Remix)
25:35 Timmy Tutone – Love Song
27:55 Super GNARLY – The Roof Is Not My Son (But I Will Still Raise It)
30:15 Aaron Watkins & DJ Cheeku – Threshold (deathy’s Glitch Hop mix)
32:34 Warp9 – Gypsy Djazz
36:05 Kitten and the Hip – Don’t Touch the Kitten (Leygo remix)
39:53 Jenova Collective – Minor Swing
43:22 Defunk – Giggle Water feat. Rayna MC (DJ Edit)
46:27 11 Acorn Lane – Time For Tea
48:35 donJohnston – Minor Swing (Donjohnstons Swing For A Day edit)
51:15 Al Tarba – Honey LickerClifford AndersonParticipantGorgeous… love the groove!
Clifford AndersonParticipantRich drumbeat, at least in the beginning (writing this as I listen)… the instrumentation has a good airiness and the incoming wubby bass helps to hint at bigger things to come… however, it doesn’t seem to ever get as aggressive as the intro suggests it’s going to.
Overall, I like it, but to me at least, it hints at a harder edge that never really materializes.
Clifford AndersonParticipantYeah, in the early days, techno certainly had a more generic meaning, not surprising to see some regions still using it that way – especially the folks who are not particularly involved in the music scene.
March 13, 2016 at 5:10 am in reply to: Considering beta-testing Serato 1.9. Any advice or horror stories? #2369101Clifford AndersonParticipantYeah, like Chuck says, I have just been around makin’ trouble for so long that I jump in and try to help carry some of the load when I can.
Clifford AndersonParticipantThe drum roll seems to be working better in that mix… or else I just got used to it. heheheheehh
Clifford AndersonParticipantThese days, house is considered by many to be one of the two “grandparent” genres, alongside breakbeat… house has 4-on-the-floor kicks, breakbeat has a more swingy unusual beat. That said, this is not set in stone, it just seems to be how the consideration breaks down from what I’ve seen.
Clifford AndersonParticipantI would never rip a track to use in my DJ sets, however… with how strict I am about whether or not a track will even make it INTO my playlist, I am starting to consider ripping merely for the purposes of testing it in a mix (and then either purchase or delete). I play mostly free music released by the artists, but recently, I bought a couple of albums, and of the tracks that were on the albums, literally 2 (of 8 tracks) made it through my screening process to sit in my actual playlist.
Clifford AndersonParticipantI recently did a remix of a Swing track that was a lot of fun… might end up spending more time in that genre.
