July 6, 2011 at 4:36 pm in reply to: What type of person is the most annoying during your set? #3036dj ArchitektMemberThis past weekend, after playing hip hop for about an hour or so, people enjoyed it (I hate spinning Hip Hop btw) and were dancing, then it was time to move into my normal top 40 dance tracks for the remainder of the night. This is when people really started dancing and getting wild. However, I had one of the girls that was dancing to the hip hop come up to me and blatinetly look at me in the face and tell me that I was the worst DJ ever and that she’d never come back!
I was like whoa!!!
Just caught me off guard. Personally I would NEVER go into a club/bar with a dj or a band and request something. I think that it is totally disrespectful. I don’t understand who raised these people. Serious lack of respect.
Would you ever go into a lawyers office and start offering legal advise? NO, same thing in my mind….

dj ArchitektMemberpilotmike327, post: 2029 wrote: lol. this sounds a bit messed up but one of the big motivation factors that pushed me to actually pursue the idea of DJ was the following: I was at a club and the house room DJ wasn’t really catching my attention. So I went to the Top 40 Room.
I was there for 10 mins….Tops.
This guy was leaving gaps between songs, played maybe 30 seconds of songs before going on to a next one, and would jump from One by Swedish House Mafia to Danza Kuduro by Don Omar. I was so mad!! THESE ARE SONGS I LOVE AND HE’S TAKING A POOP ON THEM!!!
After leaving the club I couldn’t stop thinking “Man, I could have done a totally better job than that guy.” So I went online, started looking at what DJing really is about, and since then fell in love with the art behind it.
Exact same thing happened to me
dj ArchitektMemberDay Job – Design Architect (I am a designer for international sport stadiums/arenas, think FIFA and world cup stuff)
Its been my dream job since I’ve been a kid, but I find myself hating the stress, constant deadlines and always feeling behind.
Pro’s I get to travel the world…
For Fun, I compete in Bodybuilding Competitions and really focus on heathly eating and a clean lifetsyle.
Djing is new for me, like with-in the past year, and I love that too…

Good stuff bro!
dj ArchitektMemberI always bring 2-3 pre recorded 10-15 min Mini mixes of my own… mainly for bathroom breaks… etc Not ever another dj’s mix.
I do play other dj’s remixes and mash ups from soundcloud. I follow a few cool ones on soundcloud, and they are always thrilled when I tell them I dropped one of there tracks in a set.
This could start a whole another debate though… lol
dj ArchitektMemberI was always the guy at any party or get togther in Highschool/College that was plugging my Ipod or cd’s in someone’s home system. Then would go out with freinds and see someone behind the decks do a terrible job but still get a reaction out of the crowd. I knew I could do better…
Now two years out of school with the means to have some hobbies, I decided to take the plunge… I’ll never look back, Love it
