    I have a tip too:
If you want the best from all the worlds. Vinyl feel with spinning platter, CD ability, USB ability and MIDI so you can use any SW prog. There is The Denon S3700s. You can use them with any SW but only the spinning platter with DVS timecode.
I have a pair and it feels just like vinyl but the vinyl is 9″ instead of 12″. One of the absolute best persons in scratching here in Seden has tested the S3700 and he thinks that it is the first digital thing he tested that he would consider buying. But he is a turntabelist so he bought the SSL and uses his TTS 🙂

UK DMC Champion JFB rocks Hybrid Midi Mode on the S3700:

World DMC champ, DJ Switch on a 3700

If you want portability the Denon MC6000 is a great controller:

I can ad that I have both products myself and am very happy with them

If you are going to learn how to scratch I think you really need 2TTS and a DVS system with timecode!
    SSL or Traktor Scratch duo/pro……….

1st step is to get all of your SW up to the latest version (except if you have Mac do not update to OSX Lion yet
NI is about to come with an update that supports Lion)

Then DL and read carefully the getting started document below:
    http://www.native-instruments.com/fileadmin/ni_media/downloads/manuals/Traktor_2_Getting_Started.zip

Sorry that I cannot help you more but I do not know if you use Mac or PC and so on…..

I do beatmix all music genres from 60s till todays EDM
But I haven’t tried it on my MC6000 yet,
I do it on the S3700s with rotating platter and pichbend buttons, you have to chase the bpm all the time over the mix when it has a live drummer, the bpm changes constantly.
For example I have two tunes I alwas mix first on weddings:
Abba – Dancing Queen mixes with Bee Gees – Stayin Alive (pitch -2,18%) Both tunes original version, try it if you like….
When I started as a bedroom dj 1980 I only had Reggae and hardrock and two beltdrive TTs so I did it the hard way 🙂
After 6month of buying disco music I bought 2 Technics 1210s and had my first gigg.
I might add that I have been playing drums since 1974 so I had a few advantages learning to DJ….

So you migt understand why I do think that autosynk is cheating ;-))

I think that headphones is very important for all DJs (Begginers as well as Pros)
Because if you do not have the best there is a risk that you can be hurt for life!
You can get defected hearing if they sound bad or you can hurt your neck if you have to press them against the ear.
(like the one on the picture) So if you are a beginner do not get a lowbudget headphone!
Some good phones in my oppinion:
Senhiser HD25 (DJ Standard more or less)
Denon HP1000 (Very good looking and sounding I use these)
Beats by Dr Dre (I have not tested these but I have heard that they are good from people I trust)
And last the Pio 2000 is OK but not value for money

    A test on Scratchworx:

LukeAlive, post: 6657 wrote: Well what you say makes totally sense and good feedback however it will take me a long while before I will be able to afford a Mac they just way to expensive and besides the Denon MC 6000 is in my radar,

I currently have a Dell Studio 1558 Intel i5 430M at 2.27 Ghz running Windows 7 64Bit and 4Gig Ram and Traktor Pro with my Vestax VCI 100

I also run Tune Up utilities which has function called Turbo Mode that takes away alot of non essential background programs which helps alot

    A tip:
In my oppinion a Mac lasts about 2 times longer than a PC so you can buy a used Mac that is 2-3years old and it is still
a better computer than a new PC if you will run a DJ software on it. A used Macbook/Macbook Pro should be in a lower pricerange than a new PC…..

I have baught 7 Macs over the years all of them in 2nd hand with no problems.
Currently I have the 1st generation Macbook Pro from 2006! (And a Mac Pro 8core from 2009)
I can’t see any reason to not keep the Macbook Pro for several years to come, it runs very fast and well with Traktor 2 scratch pro. It also runs well with other musical programs like Ableton Live, Cubase and others.

I have not tested the DDM4000 but I’ve heard it is a mixer that is built in the same china factory as all other low budget mixers with low buid quality and the soundcard is proberbly not that good eather.
But if you have a store that you can visit I recommend that you take the time and test it, it might not be that bad….

LukeAlive, post: 6623 wrote: Can someone tell me why everyone is saying that Mac is better then PC for djing?

This is my personal thinking and oppinion and why I will never buy a PC again.

If you have a Mac with DJ SW you can still use it for other things like surfing, mailing and so on
You install your sw and it works instantly.

With PCs you have to configure it and take away a lot of stuff from the OS and turn off a lot of things that runs in background, desturbing the musicflow, (Automatic updates for windows, antivirus running in background and so on.)
This results in that if you shall use a PC you have to use it and configure it only for the DJ SW and you have to have a lot of knowlage about computers, otherwise it may crash and music will stop playing.

Seting up a Mac to run smooth with Traktor 15min max,
Setting up a PC +5Hours if you have the knowlage.

I had a new PC laptop and tried to get it working with an early SW and had an PC engeneer helping me it ended with that I had to return the PC and the hardwarecontroller and the SW.

I would recommend that you go for a 4channel mixer at once if you plan on getting one in a near future.
Otherwise you have to spend money twice….

My recommendations is for a 2channnel mixer the Denon X600
And 4 channel mixer Denon X1600 (or if you want the best the X1700)
Those mixers has a very good soundcard and top quality hardware I have tested them all myself with Traktor.
In my oppinion, if you take away the SC1 and Pio and all mixers that are in the price of Pio (A&H) and all mixers that I would not recomend because lack of quality there are not much to chose from….
Here is a link to what you have to chose from all to all:
    http://co.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=traktorready
The X600 is certified but NI hasnt updatet I have personaly tried it and it works…..

NS6 is a great ITCH controller I do like it a lot, but I would not recommend NS6 if you plan on using it with any other SW.
The price includes ITCH and that SW is not for free. So you throw your money away if you do not use it.
Also the layout is very good for ITCH but not for other SW.
In my oppinion it is better to chose another controller if you do not want Itch.

If you are looking for the best digital DJ Gear the first step is to get rid of your PC and get a Macbook Pro!
Otherwise you will not get the best digital DJ Gear ever!
Then the best is 2xDenon S3700 and Denon X1700 with Traktor Scratch Pro 2
    Second best is 2x Pioneer CDJ2000 and DJM2000 TSP2
But if you are looking for a controller it is Denoon MC6000. T2

Yes the MC6000 can be used with any MIDI software, I have mine with T2 but I have a friend who has VDJ on his laptop and we tested it with my MC6000. It was plug and play 🙂 And worked very well.
When you look at it it looks to be cramped but when you use it it really isn’t.
The layout is very good and the sound is amazing:-)
I also hat two other friends who baught the MC6000 and both of them uses T2 and are very happy with it.
Denon has a good mapping for the MC6000 T2 included in the latest sw update…..
