Superfly Meets Shaft by John & Ernest was the first record ever to use samples. Once I heard that I knew what I was going to do. Being able to manipulate records to tell a story was what I knew I wanted to do. And behold, I’m still doing it.
I’m using Serato SL-3 with Video SL-1. Very easy to use. Bought it because of the video capability. Also like it because I was in a situation where I had to use a controller (Vestex VCI-300) because of space contraints & logistics. Couldn’t use TT’s on a float in a parade. Serato Itch was compatible with Scratch being all of my cue points were already set. That was great. Now when Itch incorporates video then Serato will have a win-win.
