About 2 days ago, I just bought muh new headphone,
After my last headphone, Pioneer HDJ series broke out on me (the cup handle ish broke <.<)

After reading the excellent article by Phil, about the AKG K67, I made up my mind
I was planning to get the new HDJ 1500W, but since my bad relationship with Pioneer (and the pricey tag), I go ahead and try my experience with the AKG product lines…
Although the store i went too, ran out of the stock of the K67, i go ahead went and bought the next line in the series which is the K167, for around 200 US dolla (the K67 around 100 dolla),

The experience so far quite nice, the one that I noticed right away, is the isolation from the outside noise ish excellent!
I got the guy running hot water for the jacuzzi next to me (err don’t ask ), and me wearing the headphone i cant hear the water running at all…
The lack of the punchy bass is kind of hit and miss for me, it fits my big ears quite nicely, and the logo tiesto on the outside cup its not too cheesy, and I can brag like hey man check out muh new tiesto brand headphone iz OMGWTFBBQ!!! =p
And yes it didnt come with DJ headphone case, but meh you can always buy one for 30 dolla or so …

Most of the DJ’s now offered their own homemade intro, and labeled them (sometimes) DJ Bla BLa Extended Mix/Cut, so if your songs is like Radio Edit, try to look for the Extended tag
Or you could try to one of those web site that offer services like the extended play tunes, try to search for the “12 inch” services,
Lastly, you can always add your own intro and outro using the elements from the song it self, edit it yourself using any editing software

I tried Ableton and still love it to make music, but not for DJing.
It is a totally different workflow (you can google hundreds of youtube videos) and basically you have a trigger based controller (launchpad, midi fighter,…) and trigger songs or parts of songs. If you want to do it right and only trigger parts of songs, you have a lot of time to spend at home to cut songs into parts (basically like remix decks in Traktor).

This was way too much for me and so I got back into using Serato.
Of course you can use a “standard” DJ software like Serato and enhance it with triggers from Ableton or Maschine.

    Helluw Terry,
Since we on the subject, i also have a question, mind to elaborate it a little?
I understand that most DJ perform live sets with Ableton they use APC Akai or Novation,
Can you also use Ableton Push to do the same thing as in with APC Akai or Novation ?
I understand Ableton Push is geared more toward producing,
but since most local DJ’s use APC Akai to perform live their sets with their Ableton, I would like to be a little bit different ya know ?
Thats why im opting for the use of Ableton Push rather than the the use of APC Akai…

When you know what you need info on, scan the blog and the forum archives for earlier threads and postings.

And I’m sure Chuck wouldn’t mind, to scan him also =P

Mixing one vocal to the top of another vocal is bad business…
Especially if its a well known lyrics, and ya know drunks folks tend to be the next Mariah Carey and try to sing along…
