Really pisses me off when my mixes aren’t perfect. If you don’t want to over master it, I guess get someone to listen to 5 minutes either side of the mistake and see if they notice it. If they do, fix it, but if not, It’s only because you noticed it when doing it that it sounds bad.
I get that all the time, I look over at a mate going eeeeeeesh and they’ve been standing there loving it lol.
fullenglishpintMemberYou don’t have to have a shiny new mac to be badass. Just look at girl talk.
fullenglishpintMemberNot to put you off, but that’s really a question for the DJ TechTools forums dude. There’s a VCI-100 SE specific section of the forum over there with many more people who might have had that problem than you’re likely to find here.
fullenglishpintMemberI’ve been using MIK (with Traktor) for over a year now, and I find it very useful. I have very basic musical theory training, and I’ve never played piano, so I find the camelot system very useful.
I don’t use the key as the be all and end all of my music selection, but since I like to mix on the fly rather than plan my sets I find it useful to be able to list my tunes in order of key as a way of helping me choose quickly. Of course, like most DJs, there are often times when I’m playing a track and I just think ‘I know exactly what would go perfectly with this’ so I play that.
So I guess it’s basically a nice guide to have, but it doesn’t limit me.fullenglishpintMemberMord Fustang is killing it for me at the moment.
fullenglishpintMemberLike everyone here I’ve always loved music and had a very eclectic and wide ranging set of musical tastes, then in my first year of uni I saw a mate of mine DJing with Virtual DJ in his room (no controllers, just mouse and keyboard), and I thought it looked like a lot of fun. And the rest is history.
fullenglishpintMemberstarted off mixing pretty mainstream house and remixes, but quickly moved onto big and heavy electro house, dubstep and some DnB. I love listening to DnB but don’t work it into my sets that often.
Having said that, I also enjoy mixing things like french house. I like something with a bit of groove to it.
fullenglishpintMemberStarted with VDJ, switched to Traktor Scratch Pro for DVS and general improved controller mapping, upgraded to TSP2, now since I’m after a Novation Twitch I’ll be ITCH certified so I’ll certainly be giving that a go, though I won’t be dumping Traktor any time soon.
fullenglishpintMemberstay strong!
fullenglishpintMemberI do that, but not drinking…. yeh I can’t really stick to that!
fullenglishpintMemberI wish I had a photo of the party I DJ’d with a good mate of mine on his awesome roof terrace for San Joan on thursday, nothing big but we had about 20 people up there and mixed back to back for about 5 or 6 hours.
We were both up there with our MBPs and VCI-100s, I was using my MidiFighter too, it was great fun and people were absolutely loving it. Then we went down to the beach where most of the city was partying at the chiringuitos, didn’t get home til 9am 😀
fullenglishpintMemberBasically what I’ve got, but with a Twitch and maybe another midifighter.
fullenglishpintMemberI mainly use Pioneer HDJ-500s (black, none of that white tech nonsense), but I also have a pair of Westone UM3 IEMs which have incredible isolation.

I do think though that Traktor has moved into the #1 spot based on the amount of controllers and DJs I see using it.Basically this. Traktor’s gaining a LOT of support with their massive internet ad campaigns, and here in Barcelona I see it everywhere, but mostly used as a DVS with vinyl.
