nice set up , well in gear im not expert im a cdj 900 + djm 800 + rekorbox .. user
are u taking the Digital Controller road or CDJ Road or both ??

creating a mashup is not cheating , its just a way of making a sort of remix .. i suppose its recorded .. i encourage you to try it

you got the same target audience as me , if they dont like house electro , try the electro house music remixes of the dance chart music, that way they can smell how house electro format is cool then slip some pure electro 😉 create some balance for your audience , a dj go deeper in music because it’s his life , but regular ppl NOT , so take this in mind

for creating live mixing and mashups just PRACTICE PRACTICE AND PRACTICE , plus the sync button on VDJ will help alot from preventing the frustration from trying to mashup and mix and beatmatch .

the real deal is with song selecting , titles remembering …
while mixing i find the best way is to find the next song or 2 if mashup 1st then how I’ll mix it , not the other way around

i learn and still learning by practicing and experimenting at home everyday like crazy , i used to have 3 girlfriends but now i don’t have not even a social life anymore , (beware from that , create balance .. but go crazy some time 😀 )

    *****the 4EVER GOLDEN RULE***** :
    RECORD WHATEVER YOU DO
while mixing u hear different , you are verry much logical about bars and phrases key …etc u loose the inspirational side as a beginner, but when u listen to the recording , u find some bullshit that u didnt caught 1st , and some Really awesome transitions and live mixing as u say 😉 that are Super awesome but didn’t realize it awesomeness 😀 so i can improve it

its a VERRY BIG QUESTION that u should be a bit specific about , for instance what equipment do you have already so sombody can give tips for it upgrade , then what music style do you play so i can understand from what POV ur standing , and what do you mean by live mixes , all the mixes are live i suppose
i would be glad to help if u explain a bit

    – Marketing skills VERY NEEDED ( the first time i workd as a dj , i was gonna be financially eaten alive with no Mercy )
    – Got to have the social skills , Communication skills
    – the natural ability to read Body language , is to feel and know instinctively what the others feel or think
-a good imagination , and the ability to recall sounds or songs and pre-Listen inside ur head , like everybody do with the pictures when u want to remember a place or a face

this some of the weird Skills that i think are good to have as a DJ and as a person too

this is a good trick 🙂 , for practicing i was always droping random songs and learn to mix them fast then switch never caring about the feel or mood direction , but now after i got my beatmaching Tight ( as i think 😉 ) i’m more about playlists and musical direction mood feel and energy matching

didnt get me again , there is a digital sound in my cdj’s , but it’s not that obvious it goes unnoticed
i’m not trying to get a misunderstanding here , i’m trying to explain my POV , i’m always learning but i’m not a newbie 😉
