I got $100 for an hour set, but to be honest I would of been happy to do for less than half of that.

I own the Pioneer HDJ 500 and would recommend them. Just over 100 dollars, not to big and great quality. Perfect for beginners.

Just right click on the song in itunes and select create an mp3 version, find the mp3 file in the same location as original and use it, it will work and does not lose quality.

Hp Pavilion G6, I love that it was only $600 (for 4gb ram and and i5 2.6 processor). I dislike that it has a very small battery life, especially when using Traktor.

Why not the traktor S2? it comes with traktor pro, very portable but also very professional and it can fit in dj booths easily.

you may wanna look into some of the nu-disco stuff out there I’m finding that it gets people move at the beginning of your sets.

i could not agree with you more, i also find its a really good way to transition between different genres or songs, it gives the audiences a bit of a chill out period and gets the ready for the next big tune.

I’m only 17 and i got my first gig by doing an under 18 gig for a local promoter, he heard i wanted to start djing and gave me a shot, i figured if i impress everyone and him, i would get more work, luckily i did impress him and everyone else. The promoter has asked me to play his over 18 new years eve gig, he asked the police if i could because im only 17, they said thats fine all i need is a letter from my parents giving me permission 🙂 If your 17 i assume that a promoter wouldnt hire you, unless you are really good, because it would just be so much easier to get some one of age, for me i live in a small town with not many djs so it was quite easy, but just get your name out their and make sure you get to know the promoters in town and they get to know you.

I had my first ever gig last saturday and it went really really well, it was an under 18 gig (i’m only 17) so i was playing to all my friends and they all really enjoyed it and alot of them, including people i dont know gave me compliments. i was on 2nd 8-9 using my S4, all the other guys used cdj 2000s, for the last hour me and one of the local djs who is my friend decided to share the spot and do a back to back mix from my s4 to his 2000s, i was really nervous about beatmatching to his songs cause i usually just use the sync button BUT i just gave it my best shot and got it straight away, i was so proud that i learnt properly how to beatmatch and it was really an amazing gig. The promoter of the gig has already offered me to play his Over 18s new years party supporting a famous Dj, so overall, my first gig was amazing. 🙂
