First Set I ever recorded was me messing around for 3 hours, so I don’t expect anyone wants to hear that…
But the second one however, where I actually tried to make it decent, produced this: http://i.mixcloud.com/CXI2s
And I still listen to it 🙂
Jack WhiteMemberI’ve got a 5 year old Packard Bell Easynote somethingorother.
Favourite thing? It’s indestructible. It’s had 5 years of: drinks, sand, heat, cold, wrong chargers, dropped from 8 ft, stuff launched at the screen, the laptop launched at other things, and lots and lots of dust.
Least favourite thing? It’s 5 years old, it’s getting a bit slow and outdated now. Can’t install windows 7. Ideally would buy a 2nd hand mac, but I can’t afford it.
Jack WhiteMemberAnd they do sound very nice. Like it says in the review, they’re not studio quality, but they never claimed to be. Certainly not at that price point. Plus the piano black finish is amazing.
Jack WhiteMemberI know you’ve already got some, but to add my 2 cents anyway, I use this for practicing on as well as gaming, films, TV etc http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2011/11/review-reloop-adm-5-active-dj-monitor-speakers/
Jack WhiteMemberJust had a brilliant gig on Saturday night filling in for another DJ. The night is held in the basement of a very busy bar and usually shuts at 3am on a Saturday when the punters wander off to whatever club they can get into.
This night however, with me DJing, it was still busy at 4:35 AM when we kicked out. I was absolutely buzzing after it, the crowd was cheering every other song, I had a smile on me the whole night.
Sat down for a few beers with the staff afterwards, got some feedback, came home and started getting my new set ready. Got nothing but good feelings today, no restlessness. Seems drink and music work for me!

My phone has a camera, but I wouldn’t go as far to say that it took photos!

Haha that’s ace!
Jack WhiteMemberNo, not listening to it on their iPhones, but what they can do is link up to the iTunes DJ software built into iTunes and add songs to the playlist. Then iTunes makes guesses as to what you would like to hear based on what you have chosen.

Would love to meet those two!
Also cheers guys!
Jack WhiteMemberI had one guy come up to me and he was requesting some 70’s track.
Bearing in mind this was a house and electro night, I explained (politely) that there was a set theme, and whilst I would play that track any other time, tonight was not the night. He stands arguing with me for a good 5 mins. He gets increasingly irate and takes my pausing the argument to mix for me being arrogant. He then proceeds to threaten me with violence, so I grab the closest bloke to the DJ booth and ask if he could go to the door and get security for me. He returns with our head doorman. I explain the situation to security and has the offending male ejected. The bloke who went to get security looks a bit confused as to why the man was removed and so follows him out of the club.
It turned out that the man I sent for security was the offending male’s best friend! I did have a little laugh with the door staff.
Jack WhiteMemberIt’s funny you mention this, as I was thinking of why bar jukeboxes don’t run off iTunes and let their iPhone/iPad/iPod users play tracks that way.
Jack WhiteMemberJack WhiteMemberSounds like a good idea, but I’m not sure how that would be implemented at the live DJ’s end? Would it be in the form of a smartphone app or would the DJ need to have the software running alongside his DJing program? To be honest, I would be skeptical about running another program.
