Def either IKEA or build it yourself. It’s not hard to slap a few pieces of wood together if you have the tools and the ideas.

Hey Phil great forums I was wondering if you would consider adding a small feature. I have no idea how hard this would be to do so if it’s gonna take a weekend worth of coding please do stress yourself about it.

Over on the DJTechTools.com forums they have a small button on the navigation bar that says new posts. When I click it it shows me any new posts created or replied to since I last was on the site. This is a great way to skim though each forum and reply to anything I think I would like to.

Again this is just a humble request from someone who has never run a forum before. If it’s something easy then I know I at the very least would use it everyday. If it’s something that’s more worry than it’s worth that’s ok. Thanks again. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this it seemed the most appropriate to me.

Thanks for the great reply. Is there a way to get Beatunes to write whichever Key Format I choose to a different field like the comments or append to Track Title. It’s a great piece of software even if it takes a few hours to analyze 1500 songs but I have to sleep sometime 😛 The Key issue isn’t my biggest concern now though.

I have painstakingly made sure the ratings in my tracks were all correct and in Traktor they are. In every other program with one exception they never show up. The one exception being MediaMonkey. I no longer use MediaMonkey as I have had to pack away my PC. Every program from itunes, beatunes, and some others that escape me at the moment.

The only reason this is a problem is that my rating system is my little system to know where in a set a song would usually fit best. If I rate it a 5 it’s a peak time song, 2’s a warmup or possible discard, … so on and so forth. I would love to have the ability to see my Ratings in BeaTunes to make playlists with. If you have any input on this that would be fantastic.

I just recently purchased BeaTunes and I like it. But I’m having a little trouble getting around in it. I previously used MIK to key my songs and for a long time I have been looking for a different program to do this. After reading Phil’s article about it I decided to give it a go. I’m not sure if it’s because I used MIK before but I can see in BeaTunes that the Key for the song is say F# Major and then BeaTunes uses a similar style to MIK but it doesn’t post this is the Key section of the Track when I open Traktor it just shows me the actual Key. I have printed out the Circle of Fifths to memorize instead. I’m still working on getting the Playlists working. For some reason everyone of my tracks is rated in Traktor but the ratings do not show up in BeaTunes.

What I like to do is I have a row of buttons setup as my Super Sampler buttons.
Basically press it and it: Sets 4-8 Bar Loop (This depends on if shift is pressed or not) + Sample Play + Activate Loop

What this does is grabs the next 4-8 beats and drops it into a sample deck and mutes it for later use, then deactivates the loop. This allows the track to continue on without anyone realizing I’ve been messing around trying to sample some loop.

I like to do this with synth or bass lines in the breakdowns and then bring them back to play out over the transition into the new song. When I feel like I need to spice things up a bit I hit un-mute and bring it back in. I will sometimes carry samples on from song after song only if it’s a very subtle drum loop or the like. Hope someone finds this useful.

Just won an auction for another turntable compleating my set. I’ll be ordering either Traktor Scratch duo or pro this weekend. I’m going to be moving my APC’s over to a production setup.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply I’ll check the link out. The 50$ price tag isn’t too bad if it’s quality work.

After realizing that it was style flip I quickly knew that it was not what I was looking for. That would be great for the faders but not the buttons. There decals do not cover the buttons. What I’m talking about is something to cover the grid buttons with. That are either transparent or cut in such a way as you can still see at least partial led lights. Thanks for the reply.

New Soundcard I think the Audio 6. Currently I have a a Numark DJIO and I have been slowly picking up more gear and need more ins and outs.

BTW ZZsounds.com is my new best friend. Just being able to pickup the gear I need and to pay for it in 4 installments is the best situation for me. I can’t afford to drop 400$ on a piece of gear but I can easily swing 100$ a month for 4 months. If your DJing on a budget like I am check them out I couldn’t recommend them enough.

Try to play a few Top40 then slip in something more your style. See how the crowd reacts. Keep trying this if you can keep em dancing while trying to keep your sanity from playing the same old top40 spoon fed music. It’s the only way I can DJ any Top40 night. I play to them but I also try to broaden there palates a little bit.

Seeing Sasha and Digweed play. What they did back in the nineties blew me away. I loved all music including some house and trance but once I was turned onto Sasha & Digweed it was a great day. I have since broadened my love for EDM to many genres well past just house and trance, sadly I don’t like most of the trance being produced today but to each their own.
