Be the opposite to the scene: Be humble, be kind and nice. By helpful and listen to the club owners/managers what they expect and work with them. You will outdo 90% of the other dudes by that alone. Are there companies where you can buy that? I do know of companies where you can buy USB sticks with for expample custom text on it that you can hand out as promotion, but can you order them to put the mixtape or whatever on it?
And are there companies where you can get CD’s with a picture on it and a cover, but for a reasonable price, for a batch of around 100 CD’s?madmanParticipantPhil Morse, post: 27644, member: 2 wrote: Try these articles:

http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2011/03/dealing-with-dj-requests/haha I recognised all of the request stereotypes, it’s a worldwide problem

Yeah I hope that’s the reason. I’ve been very careful now with the gain and haven’t had any distortion/clicks ever since. I am going to a store tomorrow to try out the NS6 again and hopefully buy it.
madmanParticipantI don’t know about the other headphones but I have the Numark Redwave and I think it’s great. It fits perfectly and it closes out all outside noise. I once had a gig at a bar where one of the speakers was right above the DJ table, the audio was extremely loud but my redwave still managed to cancel out the sound also because it can go very loud.
madmanParticipantIn the case you describe there’s nothig wrong with it: it’s for charity. When I was gonna have my first gig besides DJíng at small house parties of friends I immediately started to get offered money while the manager had never heard me before so I actually never got the chance to DJ for free at a gig but I’d be willing to do so if it were for charity like in your case.
madmanParticipantI currently have a laptop with an AMD a8 processor… going to bu the NS6 with Serato Itch this week, hope it won’t give me problems…
madmanParticipantIf the next song immediately has voices I usually use that to scratch and in that way get to it and end the previous song.
madmanParticipanthmmm, turns out in some cases it might actually be gain, I guess I should keep gain in green and yellow is already at risk? In one case it could also have been a CPU spike, normally it’s at 5-10% but it would get for a brief moment at over 50%.
So far I have these possible solutions to optimize my laptop for dj’ing during gigs, but I’m not sure so any comments/additions are more than welcome:
turn of virusscanner
turn of wireless connections
keep gain in the greenmadmanParticipantToday I was playing around with Serato Itch (no controller connected) and I could sometimes here a bit of static, like for a milisecond, what you would hear if ou have gain way to much. However, gain was fine. I tried different headphones. I started up serato 3 times. First two times I would sometimes have this miliseconds of noise, third time was fine. I am really scared as I want to buy the Numark NS6 this week, so please help me out guys, is the problem that I have an AMD processor or may it be something else that is easy to fix?
My specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium
AMD A8-3520M APU with Radeon(tm) HD graphics 1.60 GHz
8 GB RAM
and my virusscanner is bitdefendermadmanParticipantsynthet1c, post: 25913, member: 1107 wrote: A little birdy told the VDJ forum that Version 7.1 will be released in the next 14 days as VDJ8 is taking a while to release..
**unconfirmed**
do you also happen to know what new features/improvements it will have?
madmanParticipantit probably won’t work with the free version of VDJ you can download from their website, it does not accept any external controllers. Hoewever, maybe you can find one that ships with VDJ (LE)? For example, the Numark Mixtrack Pro ships in some cases with Traktor LE, other cases VDJ LE.
madmanParticipantYeah that could be an idea. I’ll bring it up with the manager, thanks.
madmanParticipantabout the cardboard Terry_42 suggested, I think empty egg boxes would be best (they have about the same shape as sound absorbing foam)
madmanParticipantwow, impressive story Nicko D. The only problem for me is that this bar I play at isn’t that big and therefore doesn’t have that much security, there’s one muscle outside, and inside it’s just two friends of the manager who usually sit at the bar, but from the bar you can’t really see the dj booth, so my concern is that by the time someone comes to stop such a drunk maniac, my equipment is already damaged or I got knocked out.
madmanParticipantI do a lot of house but also a lot of hiphop so here are my two top 3’s for 2012 (random order):
HOUSE
Supermode – Tell me why (Mike Candys Resurrection Bootleg Rework)
Hardwell ft. Mitch Crown – Call me a spaceman
Afrojack – Rock the house
(sorry could only do 5 media links)However I must say that 2012 has been a bit dissapointing for me so far concerning electronic music…
HIPHOP
Nas – The don
Necro – Tough Jew/Rabbi holding guns
Axum – Pocket full of money
I only included hiphop in English, I listen to a lot of hiphop in a lot of different languages but I guess almost everyone here speaks English.
