That’s great to hear! In the meantime, it looks like my solution is at least workable. Something for me to consider for the future, though. Thanks!

Well, the problem is that I don’t have that option. Tracks purchased through iTunes don’t appear in Ableton’s file browser, and can’t be dragged and dropped into Ableton channels from iTunes (arrangement or session view). I should note that I’m using Live 8; did this become an option with 9?

In the current version of iTunes, there’s a “Convert” option in the “File” menu that offers conversion to .WAV files. This seems to be the best/only option, at least through the iTunes menu.

Yeah, I’ve got two of them stacked up there. I’m afraid I haven’t used either of them in a while; I should either get rid of them or bring them back into the live setup.

You can absolutely choose whatever name you like. Hell, you can DJ under multiple names!

My name is definitely already taken; it’s an incredibly common name, and I know there are a number of musicians out there using it. But it’s my name at the end of the day, and I’ve always felt more comfortable using it for the average gig than some pseudonym. On the other hand, I’ve made use of plenty of other names over the years for gigs featuring different musical styles.

It’s entirely up to you, and I encourage you to have fun with it!

Yeah, I have a feeling I’ll just mount it on the wall, both to maintain the space and to remove a lot of the cabling hassle.

I’ve finally gotten around to doing this. The first big question is where to plug everything in; there’s an obvious shortage of outlets out there. I’ve got one free spot right near the fuse box, which feels intimidating, but it ought to be enough to plug in a surge protector that I can mount on the wall nearby…

That makes a lot of sense. Definitely the next step will be to dig the manuals out. Thanks again!

Great call, Terry; I hadn’t thought about humidity. I don’t think the walls will be a problem, but of course I’ll run some tests. Thanks!

Would extreme temperatures be an issue when the equipment’s not in use, do you think? I suppose I should dig up the gear manuals…

Sure, why not? Finally got around to checking out your first mix. Looking forward to the others.

I’ve been at it for about sixteen years now (good lord), after kicking off at a campus pub. I’ve been getting back into it lately, after taking some time off when my kids first came along. Fairly all over the map depending on the gig/audience. Hoping to move back into production soon, which is a big part of why I joined the forums. Thanks for asking!
