Ableton Live and iTunes

Hello, all! I’m dabbling in Ableton Live again after some years away, and I’m finding I now have trouble converting tracks purchased in iTunes to a usable format. This used to be a fairly easy procedure, but it looks like something’s changed, most likely on the iTunes side.
I’ve hit the web to try and figure out my options, but haven’t had much luck yet. Can anyone recommend a best practice? Thanks in advance!June 19, 2017 at 12:27 pm #2574191
In the current version of iTunes, there’s a “Convert” option in the “File” menu that offers conversion to .WAV files. This seems to be the best/only option, at least through the iTunes menu.June 26, 2017 at 3:43 pm #2578291
Honestly I can drag iTunes files still into Ableton and they work. What is the problem? (I have up to date Ableton Suite and iTUnes)June 27, 2017 at 6:11 am #2578621
Well, the problem is that I don’t have that option. Tracks purchased through iTunes don’t appear in Ableton’s file browser, and can’t be dragged and dropped into Ableton channels from iTunes (arrangement or session view). I should note that I’m using Live 8; did this become an option with 9?June 27, 2017 at 9:38 am #2578671
That is a good question, I have been using 9 for quite some time now with all the packs and addons installed.
All I can say is that I directly drag the song into ableton (most of the time in live/session view) and it works like a charm.June 27, 2017 at 11:59 am #2578971
That’s great to hear! In the meantime, it looks like my solution is at least workable. Something for me to consider for the future, though. Thanks!
