From my point of view, those lags you experience could result from things working in the background which share files with traktor and so interrupt the datastream, in easy words. I would do a complete antivir/malware (did you try the microsoft malicious software removal tool?) checkup, just to make sure this is definitely not the problem.

Did you defrag your HDD?
What switching USBports?
Where is your music located, on the built-in HDD or an external drive?

Start “msconfig” and then select the “normal startup”; this will cause all your changes here to be set back, but if your laptop runs better once it has booted (which will take considerably longer now), you can start deselecting services and programmes step by step. I’m shure it is just a stupid little bug and once you’re over with it you’re gonna slap your face and curse real good ๐Ÿ˜€

Ah, I forgot – do you have all the latest windows updates installed? THIS could cause serious trouble, if not done.
Make sure you did ๐Ÿ˜‰ And after all are installed, kick the windows updaer out of the startup ๐Ÿ˜€

There can only be general tips to fix your problem, but maybe one helps.

1.
Hit “Start -> enter “msconfig” in the box -> review the entries under “Services” & “system start(up)”
kill all that ain’t necessary, but be careful not to turn off the NI services. There’s tons of instructions on the web which services you can disable and which better not. Especially things like automatic updated tasks bitch around lots.

2.
Be sure you have the latest drivers for everything, especially:
graphics card, and of course the S2.

3.
Switch off WLAN/Wifi, and and antivirus, Windows Defender and so on – as long as the notebook isn’t connected to the web, there’s no sense having them switched on when djing. Before you do so, make a complete antivirus scan of the whole laptop, just to be sure.

4.
Select all tracks in traktor (whole library) and analyze them all ๐Ÿ˜‰
Let it run overnight if you have to.

Hope it helped.

My software is Traktor Pr 2, because Traktor DJ Studio is outdated, and I didn’t want to learn a completely new software. I thought. Fail. ๐Ÿ˜€ Aside from that, best controller integration (which is the tenor in the different forums).
And – with my purchase I support a company over here (NI’s from germany, as u know).

I still miss DJ studio. And all the options to modify the interface… :/

Torn between that or the Twitch. Don’t suppose you tried that one?

Sorry, I did not – the reason is, I wanted a really, really good, easy accessible audio interface, and I wanted a symmetric controller setup, because I don’t like button search orgies. The Denon offers all that, and you feel there is more thought behind the scenes going on than obvious (placing of button & knobs and so on), which you will get to know once you use it. And I don’t really dig those touch strip hype-a-delic, I’m a jog wheel guy. With big hands. So no touch strips for me.
Build quality’s excellent, too. So try for yourself, and if you want some touch-sensitive pads etc. (which the MC600 lacks) I’d recommend the Akai LPD8 (though, of course there might be better-featured units out there).

Hope I could help ๐Ÿ˜‰

Denon. I bought that unit recently and still freeze in awe about what a well made unit it is. Total recommendation.
10* of 5 ๐Ÿ˜‰ (though, I gotta admit, I didn’t test the Mixtrack, but I think the heavy metal jacket of the Denon will appeal to you as well).

To all fellow speaker-seekers:

I strongly recommend german-based speaker-company Teufel, (http://www.teufel.de/?lang=en)
they may have their focus more in the audiophile sector but you won’t find more bang per buck easily.
I own a surround set bought 2008, and it still blows the roof off (though I never used the sub to full capacity o.o), and as well do a lot of friends of mine own Teufels, so I can assure you that the build quality is really good.

And… they have sale tous le jours, because they’re manufacturer and seller bundled, so there’s always the chance to catch something nice’n’bashing.

Cheers!

When I started, I bought the Numark Total Control. In combination with a 5.1 Soundcard and Traktor 3, it offered me much insights into how DJ-Software works and how to map MIDI and all that stuff.
If you know you might possibly need some time to get going, why not buy a cheap controller, or a used one, or just an old one, to learn about all the possibilites you have and to kind of narrow down what you need or want, and invest a bigger amount of money once you can nail your requirements?

Would rid you off the frustration and the thoughts like “man, I spent XXX friggin $ for this piece of Sยงยงยง WHY IS IT NOT WORKING!!!!!!!!”

Aight?

Also be sure to have the latest software update for your DJ software…..
There is also updated .TSI (mapping) files on Denon site that might be a good idea to grab.
Also if you need help take a look at Denondjforums.com

Yeah, was the first thing I did. I could not figure out which firmware version I’ve got in mine, but so far all three had no downs and are working as imagined. I especially fell in love with the (neglectible, and easy-to-miss) Master/Booth knobs on top of the unit, it really makes things easier (how could other companies not get to that solution?).
Only thing that bothers me are the FX knobs going to heavy, one cannot twist them easily, but I think that is a point time will heal ๐Ÿ˜‰ I started mashing up the basic *.TSIs and adjusting them to my needs. Couldn’t figure out that modifier-crap with Traktor so far and some LED-output mapping still won’t work as I want them to, but, hey, after two weeks with Traktor Pro 2 and 3/4 week with the new gear? Way to go, I guess.

I think I can count on you folks when there’s issues with MIDI mapping, aight?

Regards!

Yeah, the guy in my store called their Vestax-Dealer and the poor jerk was all the way down with apologizing and telling that they were experiencing quite a sh**storm of complaints about the VCI-400… well, honor to whom honor is due.

Acer Aspire, 2nd gen. i5, 750 GB HDD, 8GB Ram, 1+ GB VRAM, 17,3″ screensize and it’s still not big enough for four decks in Traktor ๐Ÿ˜€ (btw, I bought it not only to DJ, so the large screensize is important in other matters, too).

Ha, already solved my problem – bought a setup of Denon MC 6000, two SC2000 and an Akai Lpd8.
And this is really, really nice setup (as to judge after two days). Count me in to the Denon fanboys!

Alright, today I went for set number two. Got it altogether for 1025โ‚ฌ/ 859,503ยฃ/ 1.336,31$ due to the crapsh** I had with the VCI-400, and got a ZOMO Bag for the MC6000 for free, so that’s quite a good deal I guess.
๐Ÿ˜‰

So far it works okay, though the Denon MIDI-maps seem to speak kyrillic to me with 0xnB and stuff like that. But I will ask for aid ’bout that in the relating forum.

Thanks people! I feel the Denon setup is an end to the journey, so thank you and dj on!

Okay another combination that’d make sense in my opinion:
MC6000 + 2x SC2000

What do you think?
