Rob CalcuttParticipant
Yes I tried that but it doesn’t seem to be reading the laptop – just says ‘no connection’.
I’m not too bothered about this though as it was never my intention to use as a controller – I just wondered if it would be possible to use my NAS drive to stream files wirelessly instead of the flash drive.
I’ve now bought a fancy 500gig flash drive so all good. 😉
My issue now is this:
I’ve spent a lot of time adding tags to all my music in order to give me the option to drill down into sub genres, track elements, keys etc.
I’m still getting used to the features of the XDJ-RX so I may be doing something wrong here…
The logical way to view similar tagged tracks would be to press the ‘tag list’ button while playing the master track. Unfortunately, when I do this I get a blank screen.
My tags are embedded in the tracks because I can view them when I click ‘info’ (they seem to sit in the comments section).
Any idea how to copy these across so I can view them correctly and search with them?
THANKS!
Rob CalcuttParticipantThanks for coming back!
Hehe – yes I realise how ridiculous this sounds…but the tags were added in Rekordbox using ‘tags’ but when they appear on the XDJRX they don’t seem to appear as such (but I can still see them if I click ‘info’ under comments).
Ah well – I’m sure it’s a matter of time before I get to the bottom of this one.
Rob CalcuttParticipant…OK – getting somewhere.
I’ve given up on the idea of streaming the music from Rekordbox wirelessly via my NAS drive (unless you think it’s worth pursuing?)
I can easily upload stuff to flash drives – I guess I’ll just need to buy a few to keep everything fresh.
Next question is about tagging…I’ve created loads of useful tags on Rekordbox but my XDJ-RX doesn’t seem to read them. When I press the ‘tag list’ button I get no returns – yet I can clearly see the tags have been embedded in the tracks as comments.
Any idea how I can drill down through my tracks using tags via the controller?
Rob CalcuttParticipantHiya – sorry, possibly did a really bad job of explaining myself there.
I’m currently a desktop Mac user and use Rekordbox. All my files play perfectly through the software using AIFF format files.
I’d like to keep them this way if possible.
If they play ok on a Mac using Rekordbox, why then is it a problem for the XDJRX to read them? (particularly when the desciptions suggest they work fine when coming from a PC) – confused!
I’m referring to this statement on the Pioneer website:
“iOS version of rekordbox: MP3 and AAC only”If my files won’t play (or will they?), does this mean I need to invest in a new laptop/tablet that isn’t Apple?
I hope this makes sense – the intention is to stay with my current Mac if possible, I just don’t want to redigitise my music files to a new format.
Cheers!
Rob CalcuttParticipantIGNORE LAST:
Further progress (!)
…and this part I do need advice on due to previous errors.
I once spent weeks tagging all my music in Rekordbox and tried to migrate to a new location. In doing so I kept the tracks but lost ALL the tagging/library organisation.
I’ve backed up on my NAS using the ‘backup library’ feature (including the tracks).
I’m assuming all I now have to do is run ‘restore library’ and point to the zip file it just created? Will this retain all my library tagging?
Last question I promise (hehe).
THANKS!
R.Rob CalcuttParticipantHiii – progress…
Right clicking the finder icon uncovers a ‘connect to server’ command which allows me to mount drives.
Unfortunately, I’m still unable to back up Rekordbox as the process begins and the bar seems to get stuck on 38%.
Any idea why this is?
R.Rob CalcuttParticipantHi both – thanks so much for responding…the former is a tad too technical for my small brain so I’ll search for a video explanation.
Good to know the desktop mounting is the cause.
Cheers,
R.
Rob CalcuttParticipantGood to know – thanks.
100% going for it, just wondered if there was any likelihood of a product update in the pipeline? I guess we won’t know until next month.
