I have a spare set of cd decks/mixer plugged directly into my powered speakers, and an mp3 player plugged into my controller as well (Denon MC6000). If my laptop goes down, I can just quickly play an mp3 from the player. If my controller goes down, I can play a CD from the CD decks, as they are not running through the Controller.

If a speaker goes down, then I just hope to god that I can get through the rest of the night with just 1 speaker! thank god it’s never happened to me!

If you’re using the MC3000 as your soundcard, don’t you just have to run a cable from the master out to a line in on the clubs house mixer?

Was cruise mode the problem then?

havant worked out how to work the efx buttons yet or how to use the sample decks c/d!!! ill get there somehow!!!!!!

its really well built as well..very impressed…

If its the same as on the MC6000 (and looking at pics of it it is) then the EFX works like this:

The EFX1 buttons on both sides do nothing at all. The knob above EFX1 controls the wet and dry for that effects deck. The EFX 2/3/4 buttons turn on effects 1/2/3 in grouped effect mode (or specific parameters of the effect if in single mode). The knobs above 2/3/4 control the parameter of that effect (1/2/3). So basically just ignore the EFX1 button, and treat 2 as 1, 3 as 2 and 4 as 3.

Also make sure you have the effect section assigned to a deck by turning on the corresponding FX on button at the top in the middle.

With regards to the sample decks, I haven’t got a clue as I don’t use the sample decks on mine!

As the M2 isnt a usb soundcard, im guessing your running traktor in external mixing mode? That’s why when you record in traktor, it doesn’t pick up any fader movements etc.

I don’t know if the iPad’s headphone jack doubles as a mic, but if it does you should just be able to run a cable from the record out of your mixer into the headphone jack.

So for 500 people that is 5000W or 5 kW.
You deliver (steady) about 700 W so this means you will be about 4300 W short.

This is for indoors. If you play OpenAir I like to have double of the above.

This is why I only rent PAs from a local sound crew, as it would be much to expensive to have a PA for anything larger than 200 people by yourself and keep it up to date and scalable. (Large Scale PAs are stackable in stacks of 500 to 1000 W that you put on top of each other and most of the time need special equipment to get in the air, as normal stands wont cut it anymore)

    Terry,

Thanks for your reply. Looks like i’m gonna have to look into hiring some equipment them!
I have been enjoying my Yamaha DXR15s for the past month and love them. They do have enough bass for most applications. However, I want to add a sub – just one for now. I know the DXRs are ideally matched with their twin DXS subs, but I want to venture out and try a different brand sub. It was recommended that I get a sub that has a high pass crossover setting to help filter out the low end.

I was thinking of the getting the Cerwin-Vega CVA-121X, which has the HPF. Can you recommend other brands around $1000 or less?

BTW, my mixer is a Denon MC6000. It has no dedicated sub-out, but I believe I can use the Unbalanced Master Out sockets, or the Booth Out sockets if the sub has its own crossover.

Thanks again – Oyiwaa
I also have the MC6000, and am also looking at purchasing a sub/s for use with my Wharfedale powered tops. The way I thought it worked was that if the sub has a built in crossover, you run the master outs that you would usually run to the tops to the sub instead, and then run out from the sub into the tops. Unless I am mistaken?

There is an autoplay feature, called cruise mode, activated by a button next to the settings button (cant remember off the top of my head what it looks like). That might have been your problem. I use cruise myself sometimes, but I don’t ever press play or cue while using it. I do know that if you move one of the volume faders while cruise is active it will automatically start to play the other track, so the same may apply to the play/cue buttons.

    eisenhorn,

I’m going to take a guess here and say that the little box you’ve got is a traktor audio 2. You don’t need to use this with the MC3000, as is already has a built in soundcard.

What you do need to do, is install the denon ASIO driver (if you’re using windows), then go into the traktor preferences. Under audio setup, you need to select the denon MC3000 as your sound card, and then in the routing section, set the main output to mc3000 1/2, and the monitor output to mc3000 3/4.

Also, if you haven’t done already, you probably need to import the traktor tsi file for the MC3000 (as i dont think it comes built in to traktor.) You can download it from denon’s website. Once you’ve downloaded it, go into traktor settings again, then controller manager (the last option). Unless you are using any additional midi controllers, all you need in the drop down list at the top at this point is the generic keyboard, so delete any others. Then import the MC3000 mapping, and set the midi in/out to MC3000.

Hopefully(!) this should get you up and running. Plug your speakers into the main outputs on the back, and your headphones into the socket on the front!
