I’m not so bad with audio gear now, but lighting has become my bane at the moment. I know my setup is half decent, but I’m always finding new light’s that I think would look awesome in my setup. The customers probably don’t care that much about the lights, but I like everything to look pretty and awesome!!

    Thanks Gulli.

I actually wanted to add a modifier to them so it only moved the control on screen when the shift button was held down, so I had to dig into the XML. Was easy enough to do though! (Being a programmer by day helps though!)

Wow, just been playing around with this, and the way it works is fantastic! I’ll probably actually end up trying harmonic mixing now, it’s never really intrigued me enough before, but now it is!

Exactly, it’s not a huge outlay in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks for the info above, I had already read the manual through and figured out I needed the 3kHz signal.

Just had a quick 10 min test in my lunch break (The luxuries of working from home!!).

Once I figured out how to assign a mapping to a MIDI device, it worked perfectly. MC6000 syncs up perfectly for navigation and deck control. SC2900 (only tested 1) worked perfectly in both MIDI mode and DVS hybrid mode. Hybrid mode seems the better option as you still get the LED ring working, unlike in MIDI mode. Managed to turn my latency down to 256 samples (Used to have it at about 768 in Traktor) and it worked fine for the 10 mins I played around with it!! Will obviously need a bit more testing before using at a gig.

Have you ever edited any of the MIDI maps for Cross?? There are a couple of things I want to change on the MC6000 mapping: Not control the master volume by default, and the same for the cue/mix knob.

You have to add VAT onto the price. And the £ price it comes up with excluding VAT is £69.99, so £83.29 with VAT.

Rest of the reply was great. I see from screenshots that Cross has snap and quantise.

Have you managed to test it with the SC2900’s at all??

I didn’t think about changing the crossfader curve in Mixvibes, I’ll try it out later and see what happens. Crossfader curve doesn’t make any difference in Traktor as it doesn’t use the CF to mix.

Chuck van Eekelen, post: 43347, member: 2756 wrote: It’s one of the things I didn’t use in Traktor. My favorite setting (not seen anywhere though) would be for the deck to be cleared after a track finishes 🙂 (would even enjoy an eject button). I looked at the settings and there is not auto-load setting per se.

Ok, thanks. Maybe a request to mixvibes then!!

So I can only tell you I tried the MC6000 mapping that comes with MixVibes and it worked flawlessly. I remember a few things be different from the Traktor/VDJ mapping, but nothing serious. The only thing worth considering is switching the play/sync button mappings if you plan on using the sync function in MixVibes more than regular play.

I very rarely use sync, and I still need to figure out exactly how the sync function works in Cross. Is there snap and quantise in the full version of Cross?? I don’t see any settings for it in the free version.

Not sure where the 70 pounds come from. The DJ version (no DVS) is 49USD and the full version with DVS is 79 USD, still way less than 70 quid right.

    Greetinx,
    C.

DJ version is $49.99, Cross with DVS is $99.99, which actually works out to about £83!!

So I finally got around to installing the free version of cross. From what I’ve seen so far I like it!! I downloaded the remote app for my iPad as well which looks to be great as well!!

Just a couple of questions: Have you used the automix much?? How well does it work?? Better than Traktor’s cruise mode?? The only gripe I have with Traktors cruise mode is that the volume levels when it switches songs are waaaay too loud (Brins track 2 all the way up to full volume, and then starts decreasing track 1’s volume).

Is there an option to autoload the next song into a deck like there is in Traktor?? This isn’t a dealbreaker, but it’s a very nice feature to have.

How well does it integrate with the MC6000/SC2900’s?? Have you used both at the same time??

Overall it seem’s a lot quicker and more stable than Traktor, and I am really tempted to drop the £70 odd on it this weekend and play around with it.

I run it about once a month (just to check that nothings gone missing/not been analysed) or when I manually move some mp3’s on my hard drive. Never run it during a gig, it takes forvever!

    Chuck,

    Thanks for the detailed reply.

Using DVS with the SC2900’s would be good!! I don’t plan on taking the turntables out to gigs anyway. You can definitely do timecode with the MC6000 and VDJ, as I have done it before, basically exactly as you said. The only downside is that you lose 2 channels (3/4) on the controller. The latest firmware on the MC6000 brought in the feature to still send the input signal of channels 3/4 through to the soundcard when the upfader is down, so it works fine. Just use channels 1/2 to control the internal mixer. Although by the sounds of it the SC2900’s have a midi map built into Cross anyway, so I’ll try that as well!

Didn’t realise there was a 30 day trial, will definitely be trying it out at the weekend! Importing the Traktor database will be a timesaver as well!

    Thanks again!

I’m really really tempted to pick up Cross. Looks like a fantastic bit of software, would be able to use my MC6000 for timecode for my 2 turntables that just sit there doing nothing at the moment, and they also have built in support for my SC2900’s! And it’s cheap as chips!!

Chuck, care to give your opinion, as I am also coming from traktor?

It’s pretty handy, keeps the laptop out of the way. I just use a wireless mouse as well to make things easier, can be pretty hard pressing tiny controls on a iPad screen!

That’s exactly what I do now, although I just use Splashtop to view my whole desktop rather than a dedicated app for my djing software (Traktor/Engine). The iPad is on a slide out tray below my mixer, I just pull the tray out when I need to use it, then slide it back in so it doesn’t get in the way.
