I often use a 2 top, 1 sub set up. QSC K12’s and K Sub. If I use the pole option the tops are not at the same height, so if I have space I put the tops as wide as possible, angled towards the dance floor and have the sub next to the booth. Sounds great and I stand some kind of light on the sub.

in reply to: Numark M6 Question #2489861

I have the M6, chosen for it’s USB output, great for ripping vinyl into MP3 format. As Vintage said the Thu option is for the Cross Fader. I keep all my mixers on Thru as I don’t use a cross fader to mix. The M6 is a typical Mixer where you can assign Cross Fader left/Right to whatever channel you wish. As is the norm the channel fader has to be ‘up’ to hear the sound on that particular channel.

in reply to: Worried to upgrade to VDJ8… #2456121

I don’t use VDJ Playlists or History so can’t answer that. However your cue points and analysed song data will transfer. I find VDJ 8 to be a good improvement over 7. Their own web site is good for support and if you are lucky enough to go onto it when their on-line support chat is active you’ll get excellent service. Hope that helps. Good luck#

in reply to: Not allowing iTunes to organize music #2417821

This topic is of interest to me, because, like many others, all of my music is in ITunes. I do let Itunes organise my music. It means that when I do a backup I know I have everything, which makes it easier when uploading to my backup laptop. ITunes Media has all of my tracks. If I do not organise then I need to copy every folder in my Music library. I can not see the benefit of not organising. Am I missing something/ I use VDJ as my DJ software which works perfectly with ITunes.

in reply to: CD format from iTunes to MK2s #2408701

You can easily burn CD’s in ITunes. Create a playlist, right mouse click on the playlist name and click burn to CD. If there are too many tracks for 1 CD it tells you and gives you the option of using multiple CD’s. I’ve used these burnt CD’s on many types of Pioneer CDJ’s and not had a problem. The names and tags are NOT displayed on the CDJ though, just Track 1, Track 2 etc.

My machine has USB 2 and USB 3 ports and my Denon MC6000 runs happily off either. I’ve recently had a problem where my machine updated itself to Win 10 (I posted for Help). A clean Win 10 install sorted the issues and runs VDJ Pro 8 & the Denon perfectly now. My humble opinion would be if the new machine comes with 10 don’t try and run an older version of Windows on it. Just a gut feel and not backed up by technical knowledge I’m afraid, just been a Windows users for too many years to mention. Good luck

in reply to: Windows 10/VDJ 8 problem, help please #2398071

I’ll let you know he latest in case any of you guys experience the same problem. VDJ suggested that the drivers needed updating, so I contacted the laptop manufacturer and they sent a link for each driver. Still the same. So I had the machine reverted to 8.1 (You can do that within 30 days). Still the same. So now It’s having a clean Win 10 install. If anybody knows where I can send the invoice to Microsoft please let me know.

in reply to: Windows 10/VDJ 8 problem, help please #2397191

As an update I’ve uninstalled VDJ8 and downloaded again on the hope that maybe the correct driver would be installed. Upshot: Still not playing smoothly and now have lost my Cue points, even though I copied and replaced that Database XML.

in reply to: Upgrade to Windows 10 (from Win7)… #2377391

Could be a stupid question but what is the benefit of upgrading to Win 10. My machine is nice & stable on 8.1 and I can’t see an upside to upgrading.

in reply to: DJ equipment for beginner #2376671

I started Digital DJing with VDJ Home, then Moved to a Liteversion that came with a controller and now use VDJ 8 Pro with a Denon MC6000. The advice I chose to follow was to choose a controller that works with your software of choice. I started with a Reloop Beatmix and the Lite version of VDJ. If you go 2nd hand a controller should come with the original discs, if not contact VDJ and I’m sure if you have the product code they’d give you a link to download. I moved on from the Beatmix as I wanted a Mixer/controller option. As a Controller only The Beatmix required a separate mixer to connecting to speakers or amp. fine if you’re in a club set up but a pain if using as a mobile DJ, requiring an extra bit of kit. I went to a Numark 4 and quickly onto the Denon MC6000, a fantastic bit of kit. The Lite version of VDJ is pretty good in my opinion. I chose to upgrade to Pro as I got a 50 percent discount with one of the controllers, which is common with VDJ. The licence is for life and all upgrades are free. I would suggest you find a DJ shop rather than Maplin or Argos. Maplin has some low end gear but not a great choice. A DJ shop will offer better advice and the opportunity to try the kit in store. There is bound to be one in a big City close to you. When looking for speakers I would suggest powered (built in amps) and there are great 2nd hand deals to be had, which are better value and performance than the Maplin speakers. VDJ, Serato, Tracktor, they all do the job, so it’s a mater of personal choice, depending on your workflow. None are better or worse than the other. Good luck

in reply to: Replacing my Numark N4, whats best #2364651

I made the upgrade from the Numark N4 to a Denon MC6000 Mk1 a couple of years ago. I now run a Mk2. I chose the Denon because I wanted to stay with Virtual DJ and wanted a resilient controller that enabled me to have other DJ’s plug in CDJ’s and/or turntables. The Denon fits the bill for me and still does.

in reply to: Need help with digital broadcasting #2360371

I don’t know about other DJ Software but Virtual DJ Pro does has broadcasting capabilities built in and I know a few who use it successfully. However I use a set up similar to what DJ Vintage suggests. A laptop for broadcasting (it doesn’t need to be powerful, I use my oldest lappy). I personally use Butt Broadcasting software, it’s free, stable and remembers the settings for the 2 stations I broadcast on. Another thing is I ALWAYS suggest use an Ethernet cable from the laptop into the router, do NOT run on Wi-Fi. I have an Alesis USB mixer in between my controller and broadcasting laptop. I can run up to 2 mic’s through that and find the quality and control better than running the Mic through my Denon MC6000 Controller. I know others who use external soundcards rather than a USB mixer, but a cheap soundcard results in poor broadcasting quality and often at a lower volume. Hope that helps a bit. I remember doing the research when wanting to 1st broadcast and wish I was aware of this site at the time.

in reply to: Playing Itunes tracks on VDJ 8 Pro #2258401

    Hi Bob
The tracks concerned don’t play in ITunes either. I copied the ITunes library whole.

Tonight I went through some of the tracks that don’t play and copied them manually, one by one, from my old ITunes and put them next to the original in the various playlists. The new tracks play both on ITunes and VDJ 8, plus strangely, often the track/version that previously didn’t play now does? What I did notice that a number of the tracks, not all, were purchased via ITunes but I had changed the track title by adding a date. Maybe that helped throw ITunes off course a bit?

    Thanks Todd

in reply to: Playing Itunes tracks on VDJ 8 Pro #2257491

    Hi Bob77

The new laptop has a small Solid State Drive and a larger Hybrid drive. Therefore the ITunes music folder is on the D drive rather than the C drive.
