Reloop today launched its latest controller, the Beatmix – a two-channel model designed specifically to work with Virtual DJ.
Its focus is “plug and play”, aiming to help DJs to get up and running with the minimum of fuss. But while it is stripped back to basics, it still manages to pack in a pretty solid feature set. Features include individual filters, a microphone input, 14cm aluminium dual-function jogs, channel EQs and gains, and a “beat mash” mode.
It has onboard four-channel USB audio, 70mm pitch faders, and controls for effects, smart looping, hot cues and Virtual DJ’s sampler. There’s also fader start.
The supplied Virtual DJ version is a four-deck “Reloop Edition” LE, but for those wishing to use it with other software it it fully Midi mappable, and Traktor 2 Pro mapping is available.
Output is via twin RCAs, and there’s VU metering too. No word on price or availability yet.

IMO hard to beat the behringer CMD STUDIO 4A at this price…
Unlike the rest of the Reloop range, this is decidedly “plastic” in feel, befitting the low price point – but the jogs are good.
[ link ]do you know anything more about the beatmasher mode phil, at present there is only user provider beatmashers and roll effects, Hopefully Atomix have included new effects and hopefully version 8 isn’t too far off
[ link ]The press release says it works with Virtual DJ, not Serato. Does it also come with a mapping for Serato?
[ link ]I know this is a beginners unit but those jogs look very good. Too bad it’s USB powered, I’m guessing the volume output is not going to be very loud. If the unit does sale at $250 you really can’t complain too much about this unit.
[ link ]Where’s the SHIFT buttons? And the VUs?
[ link ]shift button will be the hotcue delete button, but because vdj script is so powerful you can make any button do anything, so you could have another shift and tripple the functions of the entire controller or more if you are inclined to…
[ link ]Did you get hands on with the Terminal Mix 2 (or 4) at the same time? Really interested in that one…
[ link ]Yes, saw both. what stands out most is the jogwheels, which are excellent, and hi-res faders.
[ link ]Oh great, cheers. Won’t badger you with questions – hoping a review at some point?
[ link ]Yes, we’ll review it for sure.
[ link ]Like
[ link ]Hmmm… great overview, really doesn’t look like a plasticky construction from the pics.
I do feel a slight regret after ordering the Mixage IE yesterday lol
[ link ]IE is far better build quality
[ link ]I think it should be $200 considering the fact that berhinger just came out their new controller, the CMD studio 4a which has all the same features as this but it’s $200. Reloop has got to compete with another amazingly priced controller on the Market.
[ link ]I have been looking at the terminal mix 2 for a long time now, but I wonder, are the hogs on this the same? I am a hip hop DJ and am happy with my idj live to a certain extent, the only reason I am looking to upgrade is to get a couple more things like samples, better looping. But mainly I want to scratch, and yes I know controllers aren’t the best but I have money and space issues so it’s all in one or nothing, so a few questions, do you think I will need four channels (terminal mix 2) or will I be fine with the beatmix, are the jogs the same quality as on the terminal mix, are the knobs rubberised? You stated in your review of the terminal mix 4 that the jogs are probably the best you have seen up there with ns6, do you get the same quality on the beatmix jogs? Thanks!
[ link ]No, they’re not. This is a budget controller and not the same quality as the Terminal Mixes.
[ link ]I bought it last week, saturday I played live with it and I can say that it is really nice and it’s worth the money!
[ link ](I use it with Traktor and an Akai Lpd8 for the effects)
