The update Prime 4 fans have been waiting for has arrived: Denon DJ just announced a new firmware version (v1.3.2) for its Prime 4 standalone all-in-one system that includes the ability to view horizontal waveforms. This gives you the “stacked” waveform look made popular by DJ apps like Serato DJ and Virtual DJ, making it easier to beatmatch and beatmix by aligning the waveform transients.

Other new features include a new Console status toolbar that lets you quickly toggle settings like Quantize and Record, plus adjustable Nudge Sensitivity levels and improved BPM detection.

One of the biggest questions we got asked when we did a First Look of the Prime 4 at this year’s NAMM Show was whether the onboard display was capable of displaying waveforms in a horizontal manner. At the time, it was only capable of displaying waveforms vertically: with this new update, the prayers of the Denon DJ faithful have been answered and could just be what’s needed to finally convince those still on the fence.
